Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
TRINITY ACADEMY OF PORTLAND EDUCATES STUDENTS IN GRADES 6-12, USING A PROVEN AND RIGOROUS CURRICULUM DEVELOPED BY TRINITY SCHOOLS OVER THE PAST 40 YEARS. THE CURRICULUM COMBINES: A SEMINAR-BASED CLASSICAL HUMANITIES PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES SUBSTANTIAL DISCUSSION ANALYTICAL WRITING ABOUT ORIGINAL TEXTS; A RIGOROUS AND ADVANCED MATH AND SCIENCE PROGRAM THAT INTEGRATES UPPER LEVEL CALCULUS AND PHYSICS WITH COMPUTER PROGRAMMING; AND A PARTICIPATION-BASED ARTS PROGRAM, INCLUDING STUDIO ART, ART HISTORY, MUSIC PERFORMANCE, MUSIC THEORY, MUSIC COMPOSITION, AND ART. ALL STUDENTS COMPLETE THE SAME RIGOROUS ACADEMIC PROGRAM. SPECIAL EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON BUILDING AND MAINTAINING A RICH AND SUPPORTIVE CULTURE OF LEARNING, BASED ON THE SCHOOL'S ECUMENICAL CHRISTIAN IDENTITY.
DURING THE 2020-21 ACADEMIC YEAR, TRINITY ACADEMY OF PORTLAND ENROLLED 101 STUDENTS, ALMOST 60% OF WHOM RECEIVED NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIP AID. DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC AND RELATED STATE AND COUNTY REQUIREMENTS, SCHOOL WAS HELD VIRTUALLY FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, AND WHEN IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION RESUMED, WE WERE ONLY ABLE TO HAVE HALF THE STUDENT BODY PRESENT AT ONCE, DUE TO DISTANCING REQUIREMENTS. STILL, OUR ENROLLMENT REMAINED STRONG, AND OUR DEDICATED FACULTY ADAPTED OUR CURRICULUM TO CONTINUE EDUCATING OUR STUDENTS UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. WE GRADUATED 12 STUDENTS IN OUR CLASS OF 2021.
