LITERACY VOLUNTEERS OF SANTA FE (LVSF) HAS SERVED THE SANTA FE COMMUNITY FOR THIRTY-SEVEN YEARS, PROVIDING LITERACY INSTRUCTION FOR ADULTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. LITERACY IS ESSENTIAL TO IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF INDIVIDUALS, PROMOTING ECONOMIC GROWTH, AND BUILDING AN INFORMED, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENRY IN SANTA FE AND ELSEWHERE. SINCE 1985, OVER 5,292 TRAINED TUTORS` HAVE PROVIDED OVER 523,141 HOURS OF INSTRUCTION TO HELP MORE THAN 14,414 ADULTS STUDENTS OBTAIN ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND REACH THEIR FULLEST POTENTIAL. THIS REPRESENTS VOLUNTEER CONTRIBUTIONS EQUIVALENT TO OVER $13 MILLION. WE OFFER PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE FREE, QUALITY TUTORING IN BASIC LITERACY AND ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE, FINANCIAL LITERACY, HEALTH LITERACY, CITIZENSHIP AND NUMERACY SKILLS. LITERACY VOLUNTEERS OF SANTA FE IS THE ONLY PROGRAM IN SANTA FE COUNTY THAT PROVIDES FREE LITERACY TUTORING SERVICES FOR ADULTS.LITERACY VOLUNTEERS OF SANTA FE HAS FOUR PRINCIPAL PROGRAMS: BASIC LITERACY: BETWEEN JULY 1, 2021 AND JUNE 30, 2022, 50 STUDENTS RECEIVED 1,201 HOURS OF TUTORING IN WRITING AND READING. THIRTY-TWO TUTORS PROVIDED THESE SERVICES AT MULTIPLE SITES AROUND SANTA FE COUNTY. ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE: BETWEEN JULY 1, 2021 AND JUNE 30, 2022, 57 STUDENTS RECEIVED A TOTAL OF 1,853 HOURS OF TUTORING IN READING, WRITING AND SPEAKING ENGLISH. THIRTY TUTORS PROVIDED THESE SERVICES AT MULTIPLE SITES AROUND SANTA FE COUNTY. CITIZENSHIP TUTORING: BETWEEN JULY 1, 2021 AND JUNE 30, 2022, 32 STUDENTS RECEIVED 1,062 HOURS OF TUTORING TO HELP PASS THEIR CITIZENSHIP EXAMS. EIGHTEEN TUTORS PROVIDED THESE SERVICES AND 14 STUDENTS RECEIVED THEIR CITIZENSHIP. WORKPLACE TUTORING: BETWEEN JULY 1, 2021 AND JUNE 30, 2022, 39 STUDENTS RECEIVED A TOTAL OF 792 HOURS OF TUTORING IN READING, WRITING AND SPEAKING ENGLISH. FIFTEEN TUTORS PROVIDED THESE SERVICES AT 12 WORKPLACE SITES AROUND SANTA FE COUNTY.
