LITERACY VOLUNTEERS OF SANTA FE (LVSF) HAS SERVED THE SANTA FE COMMUNITY FOR THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS, PROVIDING LITERACY INSTRUCTION FOR ADULTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. LITERACY IS ESSENTIAL TO IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF INDIVIDUALS, PROMOTING ECONOMIC GROWTH, AND BUILDING AN INFORMED, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENRY IN SANTA FE AND ELSEWHERE. SINCE 1985, OVER 5,408 TRAINED TUTORS` HAVE PROVIDED OVER 527,551 HOURS OF INSTRUCTION TO HELP MORE THAN 14,673 ADULTS STUDENTS OBTAIN ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND REACH THEIR FULLEST POTENTIAL. THIS REPRESENTS VOLUNTEER CONTRIBUTIONS EQUIVALENT TO OVER $16 MILLION. WE OFFER PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE FREE, QUALITY TUTORING IN BASIC LITERACY AND ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE, FINANCIAL LITERACY, HEALTH LITERACY, CITIZENSHIP AND NUMERACY SKILLS. LITERACY VOLUNTEERS OF SANTA FE IS THE ONLY PROGRAM IN SANTA FE COUNTY THAT PROVIDES FREE LITERACY TUTORING SERVICES FOR ADULTS.LITERACY VOLUNTEERS OF SANTA FE HAS FOUR PRINCIPAL PROGRAMS: BASIC LITERACY: BETWEEN JULY 1, 2022 AND JUNE 30, 2023, 72 STUDENTS RECEIVED 1,228 HOURS OF TUTORING IN WRITING AND READING. THIRTY-SEVEN TUTORS PROVIDED THESE SERVICES AT MULTIPLE SITES AROUND SANTA FE COUNTY. ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE: BETWEEN JULY 1, 2022 AND JUNE 30, 2023, 74 STUDENTS RECEIVED A TOTAL OF 1,631 HOURS OF TUTORING IN READING, WRITING AND SPEAKING ENGLISH. THIRTY-SEVEN TUTORS PROVIDED THESE SERVICES AT MULTIPLE SITES AROUND SANTA FE COUNTY. CITIZENSHIP TUTORING: BETWEEN JULY 1, 2022 AND JUNE 30, 2023, 31 STUDENTS RECEIVED 633 HOURS OF TUTORING TO HELP PASS THEIR CITIZENSHIP EXAMS. SIXTEEN TUTORS PROVIDED THESE SERVICES AND 13 STUDENTS RECEIVED THEIR CITIZENSHIP. WORKPLACE TUTORING: BETWEEN JULY 1, 2022 AND JUNE 30, 2023, 82 STUDENTS RECEIVED A TOTAL OF 918 HOURS OF TUTORING IN READING, WRITING AND SPEAKING ENGLISH. TWENTY-SIX TUTORS PROVIDED THESE SERVICES AT 18 WORKPLACE SITES AROUND SANTA FE COUNTY.
