IMPLEMENTATION WE MANAGE AND PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING PROCESS DESIGN,IMPLEMENTATION, AND EVALUATION IN OREGON. IN FY21-22 WE SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTED THE PRE-PROJECT PLANNING AND LAUNCH OF THE YOUTH VOICE YOUTH VOTE PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING YV2 PB PROJECT TO ALLOCATE 500,000 IN AMERICAN RESCUE ACT FUNDS THROUGH A YOUTH-BASED PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING PROCESS IN STATE SENATE DISTRICTS 24 25 DURING OUR FY22-23 YEAR.
OUTREACH PARTNERSHIPS WE JOIN, CO-DEVELOP, AND PARTICIPATE IN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS AND COLLABORATIONS THAT SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT AND LAUNCH OF SPECIFIC PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING PROCESSES IN OREGON, PRIMARILY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY INVOLVING STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. THIS INCLUDES SUPPORTING OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO CRAFT PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING PROCESS PROPOSALS THAT ADDRESS THEIR MISSION AND GOALS. IN FY 21-22 WE WORKED WITHIN VARIOUS COALITIONS IN THE CITY OF PORTLAND TO SUCCESSFULLY PERSUADE THE CITY OF PORTLAND CHARTER COMMISSION TO IDENTIFY PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING AS A TOPIC OF POTENTIAL CHARTER REFORM IN PHASE II OF ITS WORK. WE WORKED WITH FOUR OTHER LOCAL NON-PROFITS AND THE SEEDING JUSTICE FOUNDATION TO SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOP THE YV2 PB PROJECT. THE PROJECT WILL ALLOCATE 500,000 IN AMERICAN RESCUE ACT FUNDS THROUGH A YOUTH-BASED PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING PROCESS IN STATE SENATE DISTRICTS 24 25 DURING OUR FY22-23
EDUCATION TRAINING WE PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS, BRIEFINGS, AND TRAININGS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, CULTURALLY SPECIFIC COMMUNITIES, LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, ELECTED OFFICIALS, AND PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS IN OREGON TO SUPPORT GENERAL AWARENESS OF PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING PB. ON OCTOBER 14, 2021 WE HOSTED A WEBINAR ENTITLED PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING CHARTER REFORM - ADVANCING PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING IN BOSTON CHARTER REFORM WHAT CAN WE LEARN ON JANUARY 29, 2022 WE CO-HOSTED A WEBINAR ENTITLED ANOTHER PORTLAND IS POSSIBLE BUILDING A CITY CHARTER FOR ALL PEOPLE. WE PROVIDED MULTIPLE ONE-ON-ONE AND SMALL GROUP BRIEFINGS ON PB AND EFFORTS TO BRING IT TO OREGON. THESE INCLUDED BRIEFINGS TO THE GETTING THERE TOGETHER COALITION, THE PORTLAND METRO PEOPLE S COALITION, THE PORTLAND CHARTER COMMISSION, THE OUR PARKS OUR FUTURE COALITION, AND THE DEMOCRACY BEYOND ELECTIONS COALITION. PB OREGON STAFF ALSO PARTICIPATED IN AN ONLINE EVENT ON MARCH 3, 2022 HOSTED BY THE DEMOCRACY BEYOND ELECTIONS COALITION ENTITLED PARTICIPATORY POLICY-MAKING PPM LEARNING EXCHANGE.
