Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
WHEN LIV FOUNDED LIV LIKE A UNICORN IN 2019, THE #1 THING SHE WANTED TO DO WAS #BETHEGOOD AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LANDSCAPE OF PEDIATRIC BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD TUMORS. RATHER THAN WORRY ABOUT HERSELF, SHE CONTINUED TO FOCUS ON HELPING OTHERS DEALING WITH THE SAME DIAGNOSIS. IN HONOR OF HER WISH, AND TO HELP CONTINUE HER LEGACY, WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE OUR LIV LIKE A UNICORN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. WE OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO QUALIFYING FAMILIES WHO HAVE HAD THE DEVASTATING DIAGNOSIS OF PEDIATRIC BRAIN CANCER OR SPINAL CORD TUMORS.
PEDIATRIC BRAIN TUMORS ARE NOW THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF DEATH BY DISEASE IN CHILDREN. MEANINGFUL CHANGE FOR PEDIATRIC BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD TUMORS WILL COME FROM FUNDING CRITICAL RESEARCH. LIV LIKE A UNICORN FULFILLS GRANTS TO HELP ESTABLISH CRITICAL PIPELINE OF THERAPEUTIC TRIALS FOR ALL STAGES OF THE DIPG/DMG DISEASE PROCESS.
UNICORN BOXES FILLED WITH ACTIVITIES, TOYS, AND CREATURE COMFORTS ARE SENT TO ANY CHILD BATTLING CANCER THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. MANY OF THESE CHILDREN SPEND LONG SPANS OF TIME AT THE HOSPITAL OR HAVE TO BE KEPT ISOLATED BECAUSE OF THEIR WEAKENED IMMUNE SYSTEM. THE AIM OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE A SMILE TO CHILDREN GOING THROUGH TREATMENT. CHILDREN WILL RECEIVE PACKAGES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR THINGS LIKE VALENTINE'S DAY, HALLOWEEN, SPECIAL EVENTS AND HOLIDAY'S. THE FOUNDATION ALSO SUPPORTS 13 PEDIATRIC HOSPITALS IN NEW JERSEY AND NEW YORK BY PROVIDING TOYS TO HAND OUT TO CHILDREN AND FILL THEIR PLAYROOMS. NOT FORGETTING PARENTS, THEY PROVIDE TOILETRY BAGS FILLED WITH ITEMS THEY MIGHT NEED FOR OVERNIGHT STAYS.
