OUR MISSION IS TO EMPOWER LAW STUDENTS OF COLOR TO THRIVE IN THE APPELLATE FIELD.

THE APPELLATE PROJECT (TAP) HAS CONTINUED TO MAKE SIGNIFICANT STRIDES OVER THE PAST YEAR. IN 2021, WE HAVE: (1) LAUNCHED THE SECOND YEAR OF OUR FLAGSHIP MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, WHICH CREATED MEANINGFUL NETWORKING AND MENTORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR OVER 140 LAW STUDENTS OF COLOR WITH SOME OF THE MOST PROLIFIC SUPREME COURT AND APPELLATE LITIGATORS AROUND THE COUNTRY. TAP STUDENTS HAVE ALREADY OBTAINED HIGHLY COMPETITIVE APPELLATE INTERNSHIPS, FELLOWSHIPS, AND CLERKSHIPS (INCLUDING FEDERAL APPELLATE CLERKSHIPS). (4) REPRESENTED TAP AND DISCUSSED THE IMPORTANCE OF A RACIALLY DIVERSE APPELLATE BAR ON PANELS AND CONFERENCES AROUND THE COUNTRY. (5) DEVELOPED PARTNERSHIPS WITH LEADING APPELLATE ORGANIZATIONS AND RACIAL JUSTICE ORGANIZATIONS IN THE LEGAL FIELD AND APPELLATE GROUPS AROUND THE COUNTRY. (6) RECEIVED EXTENSIVE COVERAGE IN MEDIA OUTLETS, SUCH AS LAW360, STRICT SCURITY, AND THE NATIONAL LAW JOURNAL.
