THE OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO REDUCE THE INCIDENCE OF SUICIDE AMONG U.S. MILITARY PERSONNEL WHO SUFFER FROM PTSD, STRESS AND DEPRESSION. THE ORGANIZATIONS INITIAL FOCUS WILL BE ON NATIONAL GUARD PERSONNEL, INCLUDING RESERVISTS AND VETS, IN THE STATE OF NEVADA (ARMY AND AIR FORCE). HOWEVER, THE ORGANIZATION PLANS TO TAKE WHAT IT LEARNS FROM ITS EXPERIENCE WITH THE NEVADA NATIONAL GUARD AND TO EXPAND ITS EFFORTS TO OTHER STATES WITH THE DESIRE TO CREATE PROGRAMS THAT WILL EXTEND TO ALL MILITARY PERSONNEL NATIONWIDE.

PTSD NOW PROVIDED A 200,000 INITIAL COMMITMENT IN 2021 TO THE NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS SERVICES FOR ADDITIONAL COUNSELORS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND CARE FOR ACTIVE DUTY, RESERVISTS AND VETERANS WHO ARE PART OF THE NEVADA NATIONAL GUARD. THIS IS THE FIRST PROGRAM OF ITS KIND TO PROVIDE NONPROFIT FUNDING FOR RESOURCES BENEFITTING THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVE IN THE NATIONAL GUARD. THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE COUNSELING, THERAPY, AND MENTAL FITNESS ASSISTANCE TO THOSE WHO COULD BENEFIT FROM THERAPY AND COUNSELING IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE STRESS AND DEPRESSION THAT CAN LEAD TO SOLDIER AND AIRMEN SUICIDES. DURING 2023 PTSD NOW PROVIDED AN ADDITIONAL 100,000 GRANT TOWARD OUR COMMITMENT TO THIS PROGRAM.

PTSD NOW IS FUNDING A RESILIENCY TRAINING PROGRAM IN NEVADA WHICH THE GUARD NAMED PURPLE RESOLVE. THIS PROGRAM IS FOCUSED ON THE TOOLS TO IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH THROUGH RESILIENCY AND TO PREVENT STRESS AND DEPRESSION FROM ADVANCING IN A SOLDIERS OR AIRMEN. PURPLE RESOLVE IS A TWO-DAY PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES THESE TOOLS TO IMPROVE THIS RESILIENCY AND TO OPTIMIZE THEIR PERFORMANCE AND REDUCE STRESS AND RESULTING DEPRESSION. THIS TRAINING IS UNDERWAY THROUGHOUT THE NEVADA NATIONAL GUARD AND HAS SERVED AS A MODEL FOR OTHER NATIONAL GUARD UNITS AROUND THE NATION. DURING 2023 WE CONTRIBUTED AN ADDITIONAL 47,615 FOR PURPLE RESOLVE RESILIENCY TRAINING FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE NEVADA NATIONAL GUARD.
PTSD NOW HAS ALSO FUNDED THE SAME RESILIENCY TRAINING PROGRAM FOR THE CONNECTICUT NATIONAL GUARD. THIS PROGRAM COMMENCED IN 2023 IN CONNECTICUT. WE BELIEVE THAT CURRENTLY THIS IS THE BEST MENTAL FITNESS PROGRAM AVAILABLE TO THE NATIONAL GUARD. THE STATE NG UNIT INCURS ONGOING COSTS WHICH THE INDIVIDUAL NATIONAL GUARD UNIT MUST ABSORB TO CONTINUE THE TRAINING FOR ALL EXISTING AND NEW MEMBERS. PTSD NOW IS COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING THIS PROGRAM AND OTHER RESILIENCY TRAINING PROGRAMS THAT THE GUARD WISHES TO ADOPT AS THEIR OWN. DURING 2023 PTSD NOW FUNDED 45,500 FOR TRAINING BEING USED IN THE CONNECTICUT NATIONAL GUARD.
