RESEARCH, ANALYZE AND ENGAGE ON PUBLIC POLICY, CURRENT EVENTS AND THE ARTS. ACCOMPLISHED BY CONTRACTING FOR THE PUBLICATION OF THE CHICAGO READER INDEPENDENT COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER. THIS PROCESS INCLUDED DIRECT PAYMENT FOR A SUBSTANTIAL PORTION OF THE PUBLICATION'S COSTS; AND ALSO INCLUDED REIMBURSEMENT OF 106,273 OF COSTS TO RELATED COMPANY CHICAGO READER L3C IN SUPPORT OF THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MISSION.
ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT THE EXISTENCE AND ADDITION OF OTHER INDEPENDENT MEDIA OUTLETS IN THE CHICAGO AREA IN ADDITION TO THE CHICGO READER. THIS POGRAM WAS SUCCESSFUL IN ENLISTING THE CHICAGO INDEPEDENT MEDIA ALLIANCE (CIMA) AND LEADING IT TO BECOME A THRIVING ORGANIZATION OF 81 NEWS OUTLETS REACHING A COMBINED AUDIENCE OF 4.5 MILLION PEOPLE.
ORGANIZATION RECEIVED IRS APPROVAL AS A 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION ON AUGUST 24, 2020. WITH THE ONSET OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THERE SIMPLY WASN'T SUFFICIENT TIME TO ORGANIZE AND INITIATE FOR ANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS BEYOND ITS TWO CORE MISSIONS.
