THE PURPOSES OF THE MPSA ARE TO PROMOTE THE PROFESSIONAL STUDY AND TEACHING OF POLITICAL SCIENCE, TO FACILITATE COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN THOSE ENGAGED IN SUCH STUDY, AND TO DEVELOP STANDARDS FOR AND ENCOURAGE RESEARCH IN THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL POLITICAL PROBLEMS.

THE PURPOSES OF THE MPSA ARE TO PROMOTE THE PROFESSIONAL STUDY AND TEACHING OF POLITICAL SCIENCE, TO FACILITATE COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN THOSE ENGAGED IN SUCH STUDY, AND TO DEVELOP STANDARDS FOR AND ENCOURAGE RESEARCH IN THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL POLITICAL PROBLEMS. THE 2022 ANNUAL NATIONAL POLITICAL SCIENCE CONFERENCE WAS HELD USING A HYBRID FORMAT. ATTENDEES COULD CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE IN-PERSON AT THE PALMER HOUSE HILTON IN CHICAGO, IL OR ONLINE IN A VIRTUAL FORMAT. PROGRAM EXPENSES ALSO INCLUDE EXPENSES DIRECTLY RELATED TO MEMBERSHIP SERVICES. IN 2022 $747,740 INSURANCE PROCEEDS WERE RECEIVED AS INDEMNIFICATION FOR LOST REVENUES DUE TO THE CANCELLATION OF THE 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCE AS A RESULT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND GOVERNMENT MANDATED SHUTDOWNS.


PUBLICATION OF THE AMERICAN JOURNAL OF POLITICAL SCIENCE QUARTERLY JOURNAL - ACADEMIC SUBJECTS. THE ASSOCIATION RECEIVED IN KIND SERVICES FROM TWO UNIVERSITIES FOR USE OF A FACULTY MEMBER EACH TO ACT AS CO-EDITORS OF THE APJS. THE TOTAL IN KIND SERVICES RECEIVED WERE $59,469.
