OUR MISSION IS TO ENCOURAGE THE EVOLUTION OF YOUNG MEN OF COLOR AGES 16-24 THROUGH SUPPORTING MENTORING, HEALTH EQUITY AND OTHER PREVENTION EFFORTS IN NORTHWEST INDIANA AND PROVIDE RESOURCES TO REMOVE UNFORESEEN BARRIERS TO THE EVOLUTION OF MEN OF COLOR.

MENTORING - MALE MENTORING IS THE ANCHORING COMPONENT TO THE HOLISTIC EVOLUTION (HE) MODEL. HOLISTIC EVOLUTION WORKS WITH OUR MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS TO IMPLEMENT AND SUPPORT EVIDENCE BASED MENTORING PRACTICES, AS OUTLINED BY THE NATIONAL MENTORING PARTNERSHIP IN THE ELEMENTS OF EFFECTIVE PRACTICE IN MENTORING. HE RECRUITS, SCREENS, TRAINS, MATCHES, AND MONITORS MALE MENTORING RELATIONSHIPS ON BEHALF OF OUR MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS. HE PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING DIRECT MENTORING SUPPORT TO MENTEES. HE PROVIDES DATA COLLECTION, MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION TOOLS TO MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS THAT ASSIST IN TELLING THE STORY OF THEIR MATCH EFFECTIVENESS. HE PROVIDES MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF THE GREAT WORK THAT MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS ARE DOING WITH MALE MENTORING.
B.PREVENTION HOLISTIC EVOLUTION (HE) INTEGRATES PREVENTION SCIENCE ACROSS ALL SPECTRUMS OF PROGRAMMING. HE BUILDS CAPACITY OF THE COMMUNITY ON THE LATEST RESEARCH AVAILABLE CONCERNING PREVENTION OF SUBSTANCE USE, RISKY SEXUAL BEHAVIOR, COMMUNITY VIOLENCE, SUICIDE AND OVERALL MENTAL HEALTH. HE ORGANIZE TRAINING ON EVIDENCE-BASED PREVENTION FOCUSED CURRICULUM AND PROVIDES FINANCIAL INCENTIVES TO THOSE COMMUNITY MEMBERS THAT WOULD LIKE TO IMPLEMENT THE CURRICULUM WITH YOUNG MEN OF COLOR 16-24 YR OLD LIVING IN NWI. HE HOST MULTIPLE COMMUNITY EVENTS PROMOTING ALTERNATIVES TO SUBSTANCE USE, RISKY SEXUAL BEHAVIOR, COMMUNITY VIOLENCE, SUICIDE AND PROMOTES OVERALL GOOD MENTAL HEALTH PRACTICES. "ALTERNATIVES" IS ONE OF SAMHSA SUBSTANCE ABUSE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION CSAP CENTER FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION 7 PREVENTION STRATEGIES.
HEALTH AND EQUITY - HOLISTIC EVOLUTION (HE) EDUCATES THE COMMUNITY ON THE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH(SDOH), ONE OF THE RESEARCH STUDIES THAT INFORMS THE HE MODEL. WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION SAYS SDOH EXPLORES THE CONDITIONS IN THE ENVIRONMENTS WHERE PEOPLE ARE BORN, LIVE, LEARN, WORK, PLAY, WORSHIP, AND AGE THAT AFFECT A WIDE RANGE OF HEALTH, FUNCTIONING, AND QUALITY-OF-LIFE OUTCOMES AND RISKS.
