THE MISSION OF CANOPY CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER IS TO SERVE CHILDREN AND (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O) FAMILIES AFFECTED BY CHILD ABUSE THROUGH A MULTIDISCIPLINARY PARTNERSHIP FOCUSED ON SAFETY, HEALING, AND WELL-BEING.

CANOPY CHILD ADVOVACY CENTER EXISTS TO PROVIDE EFFECTIVE, IMMEDIATE AND SENSITIVE SUPPORT TO CHILD ABUSE VICTIMS AND THEIR NON-OFFENDING FAMILY MEMBERS. THERAPY, FORENSIC INTERVIEWS AND ADVOCACY SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO ENSURE THAT EACH CHILD AND FAMILY GETS THE MOST FROM THOSE RESPONDING TO CHILD ABUSE. A HIGHLY CHILD-CENTERED PROGRAM AND FACILITY, CANOPY HAS ASSEMBLED A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, PROSECUTIONS, CHILD PROTECTION, SOCIAL SERVICES, MEDICAL AND REFERRAL PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK TOGETHER TO PROTECT CHILDREN. THIS COLLABORATIVE APPROACH STRIVES TO ENSURE THAT CHILDREN ARE NOT FURTHER VICTIMIZED BY THE SYSTEMS INTENDED TO PROTECT THEM.(CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)IN FY 2021, CANOPY SERVED 522 CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES THAT WERE IMPACTED BY CHILD ABUSE. OVER 90% OF THOSE REFERRED WERE ACTIVELY REVIEWED BY A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM MADE UP OF INDIVIDUALS FROM MEDICAL, SOCIAL SERVICES ORGANIZATIONS, AND GOVERNMENT ENTITIES INVOLVED WITH EACH CASE, EVERY 3 WEEKS, UNTIL ALL SERVICES WERE COMPLETE. VICTIM ADVOCACY WAS PROVIDED 1,804 TIMES AND AT LEAST 259 FAMILIES RECEIVED THERAPY SERVICES. CANOPY'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS FULLY FORMED AND BEGAN MEETING MONTHLY, WITH A FOCUS ON ORGANIZING AND IDENTIFYING STRATEGIC GOALS FOR 2021 THROUGH 2023.
