GUIDING SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES IN BUILDING A PROSPEROUS LOCAL FOOD CULTURE THAT PLACES HEALTHY FOOD ON THE PLATES AND IN THE MINDS OF ALL PARK COUNTY CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES.

THE PROGRAMS AT FARM TO SCHOOL OF PARK COUNTY (FSPC) ARE DESIGNED TO ADDRESS THE INTERCONNECTED CHALLENGES OF FOOD EDUCATION, ACCESS, AFFORDABILITY, AND THE NEED TO PROMOTE HEALTHY DIETARY HABITS FOR CHILDREN, ALL WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF PARK COUNTY'S SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC CONSTRAINTS.DURING FY24, SOME ACHIEVEMENTS IN MEETING SCHOOL DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND WELLNESS GOALS INCLUDE: PARTNERING WITH SCHOOLS TO DELIVER FARM FRESH MEALS; TEACHING STUDENTS HOW TO GARDEN AND COOK FROM SCRATCH; CULTIVATING SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY FARMS AND GARDENS; GROWING VEGETABLES THROUGH WORK-BASED AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS FOR LOCAL SCHOOL MEALS; COLLABORATING WITH THE COMMUNITY TO PROVIDE SUMMER MEALS TO CHILDREN IN NEED; AND OFFERING GRANTS TO SCHOOLS TO SUPPORT THE PURCHASE OF LOCALLY SOURCED FOOD INGREDIENTS.THE TOTAL IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS RECEIVED BY THE ORGANIZATION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR AMOUNTED TO $147,678. OF THIS TOTAL, $22,801 IS REPORTED IN PART VIII LINE H AS NON-CASH CONTRIBUTIONS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH IRS REPORTING GUIDELINES FOR THE FORM 990.
