Part 3
WE'VE TRAINED OVER 200 MARGINALIZED WOMEN FARMERS ACROSS 6 FARMING COOPERATIVES. WE EXPANDED TO 3 DISTRICTS ACROSS 2 OF ZAMBIA'S 10 PROVINCES. FOR EACH OF THESE COOPERATIVES, WE HAVE INSTALLED SOLAR-POWERED WATER PUMPS, THEREBY GIVING THEM ACCESS TO RUNNING WATER WHICH ALLOWS THEM TO WATER THEIR CROPS YEAR-ROUND DESPITE THE VICIOUS DROUGHT PLAGUING THEIR COUNTRY. WE'VE ENSURED THAT VILLAGERS ARE ABLE TO FARM ENOUGH TO CONSUME 2-3 MEALS PER DAY, NO LONGER BEING MALNOURISHED. FOR THEIR STAPLE CROP, WE SAW YIELDS INCREASE BY 25%. AND HERE'S THE MOST ENCOURAGING PART-50% OF FARMERS INCREASEDTHEIR INCOME BY 50%. AS A RESULT OF THESE COMMUNITY BENEFITS, 100% OF THE CHILDREN ARE ABLE TO GO TO SCHOOL BECAUSE THEIR MOTHERS ARE ABLE TO AFFORD BASIC SCHOOL SUPPLIES, SUCH AS UNIFORMS, PENCILS, AND SHOES. IN SUMMARY, WE HAVE TRANSFORMED WOMEN FROM A LIFE OF FARMING TO SURVIVE TO FARMING AS A BUSINESS.
