TO BRING TOGETHER PEOPLE OF THE KENYAN COMMUNITY LIVING IN MARYLAND IN ORDER TO HARNESS RESOURCES FOR CHARITABLE WORK WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF SECTION 501(C)(3). MARYLAND KENYANS ORGANIZATION (MDKO) WORK FOCUSES ON THE FOLLOWING: I) CHARITABLE WORK THAT INCLUDES ASSISTANCE TO DISTRESSED MEMBERS OF THE KENYAN COMMUNITY WHO MAY EXPERIENCE UNEXPECTED DISASTERS FROM TIME TO TIME. AN EXAMPLE OF SUCH DISASTER MAY INCLUDE THE UNTIMELY DEATH OF A FAMILY MEMBER. II) ORGANIZING AND SUPPORTING PEOPLE OF THE KENYAN COMMUNITY IN CASE OF UNFORESEEN NATURAL TRAGEDIES RESULTING FROM OCCURRENCES SIMILAR TO HURRICANE SANDY AND KATRINA. III) MENTORING AND COUNSELING NEW KENYAN IMMIGRANTS IN THE UNITED STATES FOR EASIER SETTLEMENT WITHIN THE SOCIETY.
