TO ENHANCE THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE PENNSYLVANIA (AND MID-ATLANTIC REGION) POULTRY, SWINE, LAMB, SHEEP, AND GOAT INDUSTRIES THROUGH FOCUSED RESEARCH, INNOVATION, DIAGNOSTICS, AND OUTREACH EDUCATION EFFORTS.

THE CENTER PROVIDES PRODUCERS BIOSECURITY EDUCATION VIA REGIONAL BIOSECURITY WORKSHOPS, EDUCATION SESSIONS, AND WEBINARS; INDIVIDUALIZED BIOSECURITY PLANS; AND BIOSECURITY IMPLEMENTATION GRANTS TO IMPLEMENT APPROVED BIOSECURITY PLANS.


FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY ASSURANCE - ENSURE MEASURES ARE IN PLACE TO PROTECT FOOD SUPPLY AND ENSURE FOOD SAFETY RELATED TO ANIMAL AGRICULTURE IN PENNSYLVANIA.


THE CENTER FUNDS RESEARCH THAT MEETS INDUSTRY NEED, AS IDENTIFIED BY PRODUCER FEEDBACK AND LEADERSHIP INSIGHT. RESEARCH PROJECTS ARE RELATED TO EITHER SMALL RUMINANTS, SWINE OR POULTRY.


ENHANCE ANIMAL AGRICULTURE INFRASTRUCTURE IN PENNSYLVANIA, INCLUDING KNOWLEDGE AND EXPANSION OF DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS AND USES WITHIN UNIVERSITIES; WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT (APPRETICESHIP, INTERNSHIPS) AND VETERINARIAN SUPPORT. A STUDENT LOAN REPAYMENT OPPORTUNITY WILL BE OFFERED TARGETED TO FOOD ANIMAL VETERINARIAN SCHOOL GRADUATES PRACTICING IN PENNSYLVANIA.
