Part 3 - Line 4a
IN 2001, FONDATION SANTE BEGAN BIOTECHNOLOGIA, THE BIOTECH MEETING IN GREECE, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A FORUM FOR INVITED PARTICIPANTS, LEADERS IN THE FIELDS OF MEDICINE, BIOLOGY, BUSINESS, AND FINANCE TO EXCHANGE IDEAS AND PROMOTE RESEARCH. THE BIOTECHNOLOGIA CONFERENCE TO BE HELD IN 2021 WAS CANCELLED DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
IN 2007, FONDATION SANTE STARTED SPONSORING THE INTERNATIONAL ANNUAL NOTCH MEETINGS THAT HAVE BEEN BRINGING THE NOTCH COMMUNITY TOGETHER IN ATHENS. THE MEETINGS ALTERNATE BETWEEN GENERAL MEETINGS AND THEMATICALLY FOCUSED SMALLER WORKSHOPS. THE NOTCH MEETINGS ARE DESIGNED TO ALLOW PARTICIPANTS BECOME BETTER INFORMED ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING IN SPHERES OF INTEREST NOT IMMEDIATELY CONNECTED WITH THEIR OWN, GET A FEELING ABOUT TRENDS AND EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS, EXPLORE MEDICAL NOTCH APPLICATIONS, AND HEAR AND MEET OLD AND NEW SCIENTIFIC PARTICIPANTS IN AREAS OF INTEREST.
THE GRANTS SUPPORT EXISTING RESEARCH TEAMS AT THE LEVEL OF 25,000 EUROS FOR ONE YEAR WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF A ONE-TIME RENEWAL DEPENDING ON PROGRESS. BECAUSE OF THEIR MODEST SIZE, THESE GRANTS CANNOT SUPPORT FULL-FLEDGED RESEARCH PROGRAMS; RATHER THEY ARE DESIGNED TO AID RESEARCH TEAMS TO INITIATE NEW PROJECTS OR EXTEND AN EXISTING PROGRAM TOWARD A NEW DIRECTION.
