TO OFFER YOUTH-DRIVEN LEARNING EXPERIENCES THAT PROVIDE RESOURCES, RESPECT, AND AUTHORITY FOR TEENAGERS WHO HAVE INTERESTS BUT FEW OPPORTUNITIES SO THAT THEY CAN PURSUE THESE INTERESTS AND DEVELOP AGENCY. THROUGH OUR PROGRAMS, WE EMPOWER YOUNG PEOPLE WITH SUPPORTS TO DESIGN AND EXECUTE A LEARNING PROJECT OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL AND CHART THEIR PATHS TO SUCCESS.

THE LEARNING CHALLENGE:GRIPTAPE OFFERS YOUTH AGES 14-19 A RADICALLY DIFFERENT 10-WEEK EXPERIENCE WHERE THEY PURSUE THEIR INTERESTS WITH FULL DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY, FINANCIAL RESOURCES, AND A MENTOR WHO BELIEVES IN THEIR POTENTIAL AND HELPS THEM REFLECT ON THEIR IDEAS, ACTIONS, AND DECISIONS. COMBINED, THESE INPUTS PROVIDE AN UNDER-RESOURCED YOUNG PERSON AN OPPORTUNITY TO PURSUE HER PASSIONS ON HER OWN TERMS, PUTTING YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT WITH FULL DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY, SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL RESOURCES, AND THE MENTORING SUPPORT TO DEVELOP CRITICAL MINDSETS, SKILLS, AND BEHAVIORS TO DEEPEN THEIR AGENCY AND CHART THEIR COURSE INTO YOUNG ADULTHOOD.
