THE CHILDREN'S TREEHOUSE FOUNDATION IS EMERGING FROM THE PANDEMIC WITH GREATER CAPACTITY THAN WHEN THE CAPACTITY BEGAN. WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE BOARD AND FUNDING FROM SOME TARGETED FUNDRAISING, OUR PRIMARY SERVICES HAVE NOW BEEN MOVED ONLINE AND WE HAVE THE CAPACITY TO DELIVER PROGRAMS BOTH IN-PERSON AND ONLINE. WHILE THE REST OF THE COUNTRY, WORLD ACTUALLY, HAVE SUSPENDED CLIMB SUPPORT GROUPS, THE CHILDREN'S TREEHOUSE FOUNDATION HAS HELD GROUPS ONLINE TO GIVE FAMILIES SUPPORT THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND ANYWHERE ELSE. WE HAVE ALSO BEEN ABLE TO CONDUCT OUR TRAINING FOR ONCOLOGY PROFESSIONALS ONLINE, SO NEW HOSPITALS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS CAN NOW OFFER OUR PROGRAM. WE HAVE ALSO PROVIDED $3850 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO ORGANIZATIONS SO THEY COULD AFFORD THE COST OF ATTENDING OUR TRAINING AND WE HAVE DONATED HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OF FREE BOOKS TO FAMILIES WHO HAD NO OTHER ACCESS TO RESOURCES FOR HELPING TO TALK WITH THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT THEIR CANCER DIAGNOSIS.
THE CHINA LYMPHOMA PROJECT IS A HISTORIC INITIATIVE IN COLLABORATION WITH RENOWNED AUTHOR AND JOURNALIST, JAMIE RENO THAT INCLUDES A NEW BOOK WRITTEN SPECIFICALLY FOR CHINAS CANCER PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE BOOK WILL PROVIDE EXTENSIVE AND UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEWEST LYMPHOMA TREATMENTS, CLINICAL TRIALS AND PIPELINES IN CHINA WHERE PATIENT RESOURCES ARE FEW. THE PROJECT ALSO LEVERAGES THE INTERNET AND OTHER COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES TO INFORM CHINAS CANCER PATIENT POPULATION AND THEIR FAMILIES ABOUT DEVELOPMENTS THAT COULD BENEFIT THEM.
IN COLLABORATION WITH RENOWNED AUTHOR AND JOURNALIST, JAMIE RENO, THE AUTHOR OF SNOWMAN ON THE PITCHERS MOUND, THE CHILDRENS TREEHOUSE FOUNDATION IS SUPPORTING A NEWLY REVISED VERSION OF THE PITCHERS MOUND BOOK THAT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED FOR FREE TO FAMILIES AND WILL BE COUPLED WITH A WEBSITE THAT HAS ADDITIONAL RESOURCES FOR FAMILIES. THE BOOK TELLS THE POIGNANT STORY OF HOW A 10-YEAR-OLD BOY FROM A SMALL TOWN IN THE MIDWEST WHO LOVES TWO THINGS BASEBALL AND HIS FAMILY - IS COPING WITH THE RECENT CANCER DIAGNOSIS OF HIS MOM. THE BOOK ADDRESSES THE MANY CHALLENGES CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FACE DURING THE UPHEAVAL OF A CANCER DIAGNOSIS IN STORYTELLING FORM IN A WAY THAT CHILDREN AND PARENTS CAN ENTER INTO THE STORY AND TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES IN A NON-CLINICAL, NON-TECHNICAL WAY.
