COMMUNITY ADVOCACY AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM TO IMPROVE SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY POLICIES WITHIN METRO -DENVER. PROGRAM DEVELOPS YOUTH, PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO LEAD CHANGE IN THEIR COMMUNITY.

MOVIMIENTO PODER, FORMERLY PADRES UNIDOS, INC. (THE ORGANIZATION) IS A COLORADO NON-PROFIT THAT WAS FORMED IN 1991 TO ENABLE LOW-INCOME STUDENTS AND PARENTS FROM DENVER PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS WITHIN THE STATE TO BECOME ACTIVE IN THE PROCESS OF IMPROVING THEIR SCHOOLS. UNDER MOVIMIENTO PODER, OUR FOCUS IS THE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS AND PARENTS THROUGH SKILLS TRAINING, PROVIDING SERVICES FOR THEIR DEVELOPMENT, SUCH AS MENTAL HEALTH AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT, AND TRAINING ON ADVOCACY AND CIVIC PARTICIPATION. IN 2023, OVER 50 STUDENT AND PARENT LEADERS PARTICIPATED IN OUR PROGRAMS WHICH LED TO PERSONAL GROWTH AND CHANGES IN THEIR SCHOOLS AND IN THE COMMUNITY.
