ANIMAL CARE - THE SANCTUARY SUCCESSFULLY CARED FOR MORE THAN 950 LIONS, TIGERS, BEARS, WOLVES AND OTHER LARGE CARNIVORES - AS WELL AS MORE THAN 120 WILD MUSTANGS IN 2023. THE ORGANIZATION FEEDS MORE THAN 110,000 POUNDS OF FRESH, HIGH QUALITY, SPECIES-SPECIFIC FOOD EACH WEEK AND UTILIZED 85 STAFF AND MORE THAN 150 VOLUNTEERS TO CARE FOR THESE ANIMALS. THE WILD ANIMAL SANCTUARY ENCOMPASSES MORE THAN 33,000 WITH ITS FOUR SEPARATE FACILITIES AND PROVIDES LARGE NATURAL HABITATS RANGING FROM 5 TO 300 ACRES IN SIZE FOR ITS RESCUED CARNIVORES TO LIVE IN - AS WELL AS OPEN RANGES VARYING IN SIZE FROM 7,000-ACRES TO MORE THAN 22,500-ACRES FOR ITS RESCUED MUSTANGS TO ENJOY.

PUBLIC EDUCATION - THE SANCTUARY OPERATED AN ON-SITE PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR MORE THAN 130,000 PEOPLE IN THE DENVER METRO AREA, NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY IN 2023, AND WAS ABLE TO REACH ANOTHER 450,000 HOUSEHOLDS THROUGH DEDICATED MAILINGS OF ITS QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER. MORE THAN 10 SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS AND 20 ADULT EDUCATION OUTINGS WERE ACCOMPLISHED IN 2023. IN ADDITION, SANCTUARY SPEAKER'S BUREAU PRESENTED TO NEARLY 26 DIFFERENT CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS OR OTHER EVENTS VIA ZOOM INTERNET VIDEO PRESENTATIONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE SANCTUARY'S SOCIAL MEDIA EDUCATION CAMPAIGNS WERE ABLE TO REACH MORE THAN 20 MILLION PEOPLE AND ITS MULTIPLE WEB SITES REACHED OVER 80,000 UNIQUE VISITORS PER MONTH DURING 2023.
ANIMAL RESCUE - THE SANCTUARY HAS REMAINED HIGHLY ACTIVE IN RESCUING LARGE CARNIVORES THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES AND FROM MANY OTHER COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD. THE SANCTUARY OPERATES A FLEET OF SPECIALIZED RESCUE EQUIPMENT AND HIGHLY TRAINED STAFF TO RESCUE ANIMALS THAT WERE SUFFERING OR FACING DEATH ON A DAILY BASIS. THE SANCTUARY SUCCESSFULLY RESCUED MORE THAN 730 ANIMALS FROM NUMEROUS ROADSIDE ZOOS, PRIVATE OWNERS AND COURT-ORDERED CONFISCATIONS WHICH INCLUDED WORKING WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO RESCUE AN ENTIRE AZA ZOO'S POPULATION IN PUERTO RICO. MANY OF THE ANIMAL SPECIES FROM PUERTO RICO WERE FLOWN TO NUMEROUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES FOR PLACEMENT IN SPECIES-SPECIFIC FACILITIES. A LARGE NUMBER OF THE ANIMALS CAME TO THE WILD ANIMAL SANCUTUARY IN ORDER TO HELP TRANSITION THEM INTO ITS LARGE ACREAGE FREE ROAMING HABITATS.
