Part 3
THE DURANGO SWIM CLUB CONTINUES TO GROW MEMBERSHIP WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY. AFTER INTRODUCING OUR PRE TEAM INTRODUCTORY GROUP IN THE 2021 SEASON, WE HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH THE GROWTH WE HAVE EXPERIENCED. WE ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE INTRODUCTORY INSTRUCTION TO 40 KIDS PER YEAR, HELPING TO ENSURE THOSE KIDS WILL HAVE THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO BE SAFE IN WATER. THE CONTINUED PROGRESS OF SWIMMERS IN OUR TEAM SQUADS WHO CONTINUE TO RISE IN THEIR SKILL LEVELS AND MOVE THROUGH THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF INSTRUCTION WE OFFER IS IMPRESSIVE. SEVERAL OF OUR SENIOR LEVEL SWIMMERS TRAVELED TO HIGHLY COMPETITIVE, QUALIFYING MEETS IN CALIFORNIA AND WASHINGTON TO COMPETE. WE ALSO HAD ONE GRADUATING ATHLETE COMMIT TO SWIMMING AT A NCAA DIVISION II COLLEGE. WE ARE PROUD OF THE GROWTH OUR ATHLETES CONTINUE TO MAKE.ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT INVESTMENTS INTO OUR TEAM AND COMMUNITY THAT WE HAVE EVER ACCOMPLISHED IS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO RAISE FUNDS AND PARTNER WITH THE CITY OF DURANGO RECREATION CENTER TO PURCHASE NEW STARTING BLOCKS FOR THE POOL. THE BLOCKS WERE 20 YEARS OLD AND WERE SLICK AND UNSAFE FOR OUR ATHLETES. THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF DONORS WE WERE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE PURCHASE AND INSTALL THE BLOCKS IN AUGUST 2023.
