NUTRITIOUS MEALS AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES - MANNA SERVES GRAB-AND-GO MEALS AND EMERGENCY FOOD BOXES SEVEN DAYS A WEEK. IN 2021, MANNA PROVIDED 84,316 MEALS, AND FREELY DISTRIBUTED 112,321 POUNDS OF FOOD TO PARTNERING ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS/FAMILIES EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY, AND ALSO DISTRIBUTED 4,920 BAGS OF WEEKEND MEALS TO STUDENTS IN NEED. THE SUPPORT SERVICE TEAM OFFERS OUTREACH, HOUSING ASSISTANCE AND CASE MANAGEMENT, AND PROVIDES RESOURCES DIRECTLY TO CLIENTS SUCH AS BUS TOKENS/PASSES, CLOTHING, HAIR CUT VOUCHERS, THRIFT STORE VOUCHERS, PRESCRIPTION COVERAGE, EMERGENCY FOOD BOXES, HYGIENE SUPPLIES, REFERRALS, ASSISTANCE IN OBTAINING IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS (BIRTH CERTIFICATE, IDS, AND DRIVERS LICENSES), AND ASSISTANCE FILING APPLICATIONS FOR VI-SPDAT (HOUSING) AND SNAP (FOOD STAMPS).
STREET OUTREACH PROGRAM - IN 2021, MANNA WAS AWARDED ESG-CV2 (EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANT) FUNDING THROUGH COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL AFFAIRS, DIVISION OF HOUSING TO CREATE A STREET OUTREACH PROGRAM WHICH HELPS PREVENT, PREPARE FOR AND RESPOND TO COVID-19 IN DURANGOS UNHOUSED COMMUNITY THROUGH ADDRESSING URGENT PHYSICAL NEEDS, DISTRIBUTING PPE, COLLABORATING WITH PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS AND PROVIDING CASE MANAGEMENT TO HELP PLAN A PATH TO PERMANENT HOUSING STABILITY. IN FEBRUARY 2021, MANNA HIRED THREE, PART-TIME STREET OUTREACH SPECIALISTS. THE GOAL IS TO INCREASE ACCESS TO SERVICES, BASIC HYGIENE, PPE, COLD WEATHER SUPPLIES, COVID-19 TESTING/VACCINATIONS AND ENSURE THAT THE UNHOUSED SERVED ARE ENTERED INTO THE HMIS SYSTEM AND ADDED TO HOUSING WAITLISTS.
GARDEN PROGRAM - MANNA'S GARDEN PROVIDES FRESH PRODUCE FOR THE PREPARATION OF OUR NUTRITIOUS MEALS AND TO DISTRIBUTE TO FOOD INSECURE INDIVIDUALS/FAMILIES. THE PROGRAM EDUCATES INDIVIDUALS ABOUT BASIC NUTRITION AND HORTICULTURE IN ORDER TO EMPOWER PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THEIR DIET AND HEALTH. DURING 2021, THE MANNA GARDEN PRODUCED 7,777 POUNDS OF VEGETABLES AND RAN A LOW INCOME, SNAP, CSA (COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE) SHARES PROGRAM FOR 72 HOUSEHOLDS.
