THE GRAND ENCAMPMENT MUSEUM HAS BEEN TASKED WITH THE PRESERVATION AND INTERPRETATION OF HISTORY FOR WYOMING'S UPPER NORTH PLATTE VALLEY. IN ADDITION TO PRESERVING THOUSANDS OF HISTORICAL TREASURES THE MUSEUM PROVIDES FREE ACCESS TO THE PUBLIC TO VIEW HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS AND TO A LARGE LIBRARY OF HISTORICAL BOOKS, MAGAZINES, NEWSPAPERS AND PHOTOS TO CONDUCT RESEARCH.
THE MUSEUM PROVIDES HISTORICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO YOUTH WHO COME TO THE MUSEUM AS PART OF A SCHOOL FIELD TRIP OR PART OF A SUMMER CAMP. YOUTH ARE ENGAGED IN HISTORICAL ACTIVITIES AND ARE EXPOSED TO HISTORICAL MUSIC, ARTIFACTS AND LORE.
THE MUSEUM RECEIVED A GRANT FROM THE WYOMING CULTURAL TRUST FUND TO PRODUCE AN ORIENTATION FILM FOR THE MUSEUM TO DISPLAY TO VISITORS AND TO USE IN ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS. THE VIDEO CLIP WILL BE APPROXIMATELY 7 MINUTES LONG AND WILL BE PLAYED ON A LOOP TO VISITORS IN THE DOC CULLETON BUILDING. THIS FILM WILL GIVE A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MUSEUM AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS. DURING 2021 THREE QUARTERS OF THE WORK ON THE FILM HAD BEEN COMPLETED.
