MISSION: TO PRESERVE, SHARE AND CELEBRATE THE HISTORY AND HERITAGE OF STEAMBOAT SPRINGS AND ROUTT COUNTY THROUGH QUALITY AND ENGAGING EXHIBITS, PROGRAMS, AND EDUCATION.VISION: THE TREAD OF PIONEERS MUSEUM IS AN INDISPENSABLE CULTURAL ASSET AND HISTORICAL LEADER THAT ENGAGES AND EDUCATES THE PUBLIC AND FOSTERS AN APPRECIATION OF OUR COMMUNITYS HISTORY.

EDUCATION: INCLUDES OUR INTERPRETIVE EXHIBITS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING FOR ALL AGES THAT INCLUDES: SCHOOL AND OTHER SPECIALIZED FAMILY/CHILD-FOCUSED TOURS AND PROGRAMS, HISTORICAL WALKING TOURS, LECTURE AND TALKS, INTERPRETIVE TOURS OF HISTORIC SITES, HISTORIC FILM SHOWINGS, ETC. THE MUSEUM PRIORITIZES PRESERVATION, COMMUNITY OUTREACH, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING.


PRESERVATION AND MAINTENANCE OF OUR TWO HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND ONE NEW COLLECTIONS CARE BUILDING. THESE THREE BUILDINGS HOUSE THE COLLECTION, EXHIBITS, RESEARCH CENTER, AND MUSEUM OPERATION. THE PRESERVATION OF THESE BUILDINGS PROVIDE A FACILITY THAT HOUSES AND SAFEGUARDS OUR COLLECTION, SPACE FOR THE PUBLIC TO VIEW THE COLLECTION AND EXHIBITS, A COMMUNITY ROOM FOR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING, STAFF OFFICES, AND A RESEARCH CENTER FOR HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS AND RESEARCH.


COLLECTION AND CONSERVATION:WE ARE COMMITTED TO THE COLLECTION AND PRESERVATION OF THE MUSEUM'S COLLECTION THAT INCLUDES ARTIFACTS, PHOTOGRAPHS, DOCUMENTS, FILMS, MANUSCRIPTS, ORAL HISTORY, ETC.THE COLLECTION IS THE HEART OF THE MUSEUM'S ACTIVITIES AND FOCUS. A FULL-TIME CURATOR FOCUSES OUR EFFORTS ON ACTIVE PRESERVATION AND DIGITIZATION EFFORTS, AS WELL AS EXHIBITS. USING PROFESSIONAL CONSERVATOR'S ASSESSMENTS, THE LATEST MUSEUM RESEARCH AND TRENDS, AND THE AMERICAN ALLIANCE OF MUSEUM'S BEST PRACTICES, THE MUSEUM STRIVES TO PROVIDE THE BEST SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY AND OUR COLLECTION.
