THE PROJECT'S MISSION IS TO REDUCE THE RISK OF HIGH-INTENSITY, CATASTROPHIC WILDFIRES AND TO MAINTAIN THE OLD-GROWTH FORESTS, WATER SUPPLY, BIOLOGICAL INTEGRITY, CULTURAL RESOURCES, AND ECOLOGICAL SUSTAINABILITY OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE LANDS IN THE NORTH FORK AMERICAN HEADWATERS BASIN.

THE PROJECT COLLABORATES WITH PRIVATE AND PUBLIC LANDOWNERS TO TAKE A PROACTIVE LAND MANAGEMENT APPROACH TO REDUCING DANGEROUS FUEL LOADING IN THE HEADWATERS BASIN BY IMPLEMENTING FREQUENT AND SPECIFIC FUEL TREATMENT PROJECTS THAT REDUCE WILDFIRE RISKS IN A MANNER THAT MAKES SUBSEQUENT TREATMENTS LESS EXPENSIVE.
