Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
DURING 2021, OHANA WAA HELD REGULAR (USUALLY MONTHLY) ZOOM MEETINGS AMONG MEMBERS AND DIRECTORS WHO LIVE ACROSS HAWAII AND WHO COULD NOT MEET IN PERSON BECAUSE OF THE WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC OF COVID-19. THESE REGULAR MEETINGS KEPT THE HAWAII-WIDE VOYAGING COMMUNITY CONNECTED AND INSPIRED. BECAUSE OHANA WAA HAD JUST BEEN RECOGNIZED AS A 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION THE YEAR BEFORE, 2020 WAS TO BE A CAPACITY-BUILDING YEAR, BUT INSTEAD IT BECAME A YEAR OF UNIFICATION AND MUTUAL SUPPORT AND CONNECTION. OUR VOYAGING CANOES HAD TO STAY IN PORT, BUT OUR WIDE-SPREAD VOYAGING COMMUNITY NEEDED REMINDING OF OUR VALUES AND GOALS, WHICH WE COULD ONLY PROVIDE VIA ON-LINE MEETINGS, TEACHINGS AND CONNECTIONS. IN 2021, WE APPLIED FOR A CAPACITY-BUILDING GRANT, WHICH WE WERE SURPRISED TO RECEIVE BY AT THE END OF THE YEAR. WE DID NOT USE ANY OF THE FUNDS BEFORE THE END OF 2021.
