IN 2020, WAMI DEVELOPED A STATEWIDE ORGANIZATION. WE FORMALIZED OUR PROGRAMMING, OPENED A COMMUNITY-BASED OFFICE SPACE, INCREASED THE GOVERNANCE CAPACITY OF OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS, AND RECEIVED OUR 501(C)3 STATUS. IN RESPONSE TO THE DEVASTING IMPACT OF COVID-19, WAMI PROVIDED BASIC HYGIENE PRODUCTS, SANITIZERS, MASKS, FOOD AND TEMPORARY LODGING TO SOME OF OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS. OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WAS SELECTED AS ONE OF THE 8 INAUGURAL MEMBERS OF THE CONNECTICUT HALL OF CHANGE, WHICH RECOGNIZES FORMERLY INCARCERATED MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE MADE SUBSTANTIAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEIR COMMUNITIES SINCE THEIR RELEASE.
