IN 2020, RICAGV WORKED TO HELP PASS THE GHOST GUN BILL. RICAGV CONTINUES TO CONVENE REGULAR MEETINGS FOR THE CAMPAIGN FOR GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION RI (IN PERSON AND THEN VIA ZOOM WHEN COVID HIT) AND DEVELOPED A SHARED, FOCUSED PLAN TO WORK CONSISTENTLY TOGETHER TO SHIFT RHODE ISLAND'S POWER STRUCTURE TOWARD SUPPORTING COMMON SENSE GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION. THESE ORGANIZATIONS HAVE BEEN STRONGHOLDS FOR ADVOCACY, PUBLIC HEALTH, AND INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. THE POWER OF THIS GROUP IS CLEAR AND RESPECTED BY LEGISLATORS, OTHER POLITICIANS, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS AND INCLUDES GIFFORDS; EVERYTOWN; MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SAFETY; RHODE ISLAND NOW; GUNS INTO PLOWSHARES; ONE GUN GONE; THOUGHTS, PRAYERS, ACTION; THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS; NAACP- PROVIDENCE; RHODE ISLAND COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE; AND PLANNED PARENTHOOD. ADDITIONALLY, AS SYSTEMIC RACISM IS INTERTWINED WITH GUN VIOLENCE, RICAGV HAS SUPPORTED AND CO-SPONSORED BLACK LIVES MATTER EVENTS ATTENDED BY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE.
