Part 3 - Line 1
PEAK HEALTH ALLIANCE ARRANGES ROBUST, COST-EFFECTIVE HEALTH INSURANCE FOR INDIVIDUALS, SMALL BUSINESSES, AND SELF-FUNDED BUSINESSES LOCATED IN RURAL COLORADO.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
DURING 2020 PEAK HEALTH ALLIANCE ("PEAK") SUCCESSFULLY EXPANDED ACCESS TO ITS HEALTHCARE COVERAGE COOPERATIVE FROM ONE COLORADO COUNTY IN 2020 TO SEVEN FOR THE 2021 PLAN YEAR (SUMMIT, LAKE, GRAND, LA PLATA, DOLORES, MONTEZUMA, SAN JUAN). PEAK'S AGGRESSIVE, DATA-DRIVEN NEGOTIATION WITH PROVIDERS AND CARRIERS RESULTED IN 24%-38% PREMIUM SAVINGS IN EACH OF THESE NEW COMMUNITIES. IN ADDITION, PEAK'S NEGOTIATION RESULTED IN AN ADDITIONAL 9% PREMIUM DECREASE IN ITS PILOT COUNTY, SUMMIT. WE ESTIMATE THESE PREMIUM REDUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN OVER 7 MILLION IN SAVINGS ACROSS OUR SEVEN COUNTIES. THIS IS MONEY THAT GOES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY RATHER THAN TO AN OUT OF STATE INSURANCE COMPANY OR CORPORATE HEALTH SYSTEM. PLANS NEGOTIATED BY PEAK HAVE SIGNIFICANT ENHANCEMENTS IN PLAN DESIGN THAT RESPOND TO COMMUNITY NEEDS. MENTAL HEALTH VISITS ARE COVERED WITH 0 COPAY ON ALL PLANS EXCEPT CATASTROPHIC AND HSA-COMPATIBLE PLANS. THERE ARE ALSO COPAYS NOT SUBJECT TO DEDUCTIBLE ON OTHER KEY SERVICES, SUCH AS PRIMARY CARE VISITS AND IMAGING, THAT MAKE IT EASIER FOR PARTICIPANTS TO USE THEIR BENEFITS. PEAK IS ALSO THE ONLY ENTITY IN THE STATE THAT OFFERS A ZERO DEDUCTIBLE BRONZE AND SILVER TIER PLAN. ANOTHER SUCCESS HAS BEEN PEAK'S NETWORK EXPANSION IN MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. WITH OVER 50 INDEPENDENT MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDERS NOW CONTRACTED IN-NETWORK (UP FROM 11), PEAK'S STRATEGY OF INCREASING REIMBURSEMENT RATES AND DOING DIRECT OUTREACH TO PROVIDERS HAS PROVEN EFFECTIVE. THE MARKET HAS RESPONDED TO THE WAYS PEAK HAS ADDRESSED AFFORDABILITY. PEAK'S AVERAGE INDIVIDUAL MARKET SHARE IN OUR SEVEN COUNTIES IS BETWEEN 65% - 70%.
