THE CHARITABLE PURPOSE OF TEXAS ESSENTIAL HEALTHCARE PARTNERSHIPS FOUNDATION IS TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF MEDICAID FUNDING AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT MEDICAL CARE FOR THE MEDICALLY INDIGENT POPULATION IN VARIOUS COUNTIES IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.THE GRANT PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO INCREASE THE FLOW OF MEDICAID AND OTHER SUPPLEMENTAL FEDERAL HEALTHCARE FUNDS TO TEXAS PATIENTS, CONSISTENT WITH APPLICABLE FEDERAL AND STATE REQUIREMENTS.

THE TEXAS ESSENTIAL HEALTHCARE PARTNERSHIP FOUNDATIONS MAKES GRANTS TO HOSPITALS LOCATED IN TEXAS TO HELP SUPPORT THE PROVISION OF MEDICAL CARE FOR MEDICALLY INDIGENT PATIENTS. SELECTED GRANTEES GENERALLY ARE (I) HOSPITALS THAT EITHER PARTICIPATE IN A LOCAL PROVIDER PARTICIPATION FUND (LPPF) OR ARE MEMBERS OF A HEALTH SYSTEM IN WHICH AT LEAST ONE HOSPITAL PARTICIPATES IN AN LPPF OR (II) RURAL HOSPITALS THAT MAY EXPERIENCE SOME BUDGETARY SHORTFALL AS A RESULT OF PROVIDING MEDICAL CARE TO A MEDICALLY INDIGENT POPULATION IN RURAL AREAS.
