THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS WORKING TO BUILD A NEW MODEL OF A COMMUNITY AND CULTURAL CENTER IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. WE WILL BE A GATHERING PLACE FOR LOCAL JEWISH GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT DONT HAVE THEIR OWN SPACE.

ASYLUM ARTS THIS PROGRAM AREA SUPPORTS JEWISH AND ISRAELI CULTURE WORLD-WIDE, CREATING MORE CULTURAL ACTIVITY INTERNATIONALLY AND BRINGING THE BEST TO BROOKLYN AND THE UNITED STATES. ASYLUM ARTS SUPPORTED 20 ARTISTS IN 2023 WITH GRANTS OF OVER $152,000, WHICH INCLUDED SUPPORT FOR NEW CREATIVE PROJECTS AND A FAMILY ARTIST RESIDENCY IN BERKELEY AND BROOKLYN. WE ALSO FEATURED INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS IN PROGRAMS IN BROOKLYN, RAISING THEIR PROFILE AND BRINGING THEIR UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE TO LOCAL AUDIENCES.
BROOKLYN URBAN CENTER IN OUR 2ND YEAR OF POP-UP PROGRAMMING WE HAVE HELD 40 EVENTS BASED IN BROOKLYN, WITH OVER 3200 AUDIENCE MEMBERS. EVENTS FEATURED LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL SPEAKERS, ARTISTS, CHEFS, AND CREATIVE PEOPLE EXPLORING THE DIVERSITY OF JEWISH LIFE IN BROOKLYN AND BEYOND. WE PARTNERED WITH 35 DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS ON OUR PROGRAMMING, BUILDING A VAST WEB OF LOCAL RELATIONSHIPS. THE NEIGHBORHOOD ALSO CONTINUES TO WORK WITH A REAL ESTATE ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND A TEAM OF BROKERS ON FINDING A PERMANENT BUILDING LOCATION.
