THE FOUNDATION MAY ALSO OFFER LECTURES FOCUSING ON SPECIFIC HISTORICAL AIRCRAFT, FORGOTTEN HEROES, LOCATIONS, AND EVENTS. LECTURES WILL BE OFFERED FOR TEACHERS, COMMUNITY LEADERS, STUDENTS, AND THE COMMUNITIES IN WHICH THE STUDENTS LIVE, AS APPROPRIATE. LECTURES MAY BE DESIGNED TO ENRICH THE LIMITED CURRICULUM OFFERED IN SCHOOLS.
THE FOUNDATION WILL OFFER WORKSHOPS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY WHERE GROUPS WILL SPEND HANDS-ON TIME WITH THE HISTORICAL AIRCRAFT AND VOLUNTEERS WILL EXPLAIN THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE AIRCRAFT. STUDENTS WILL MOVE THE AIRCRAFT, EXAMINE THE VARIOUS SURFACES, AND PERFORM EXERCISES RELATED TO FLIGHT, NAVIGATION, AND MAINTENANCE. BY BRINGING STUDENTS INTO CLOSE CONTACT WITH HISTORICAL AIRCRAFT AND MILITARY AVIATORS (RETIRED AND/OR ACTIVE-DUTY), THE LESSONS WILL COME ALIVE AND PROVIDE CONTEXT FOR THE GENERAL STEM PRINCIPLES THE STUDENTS LEARN IN SCHOOL. THESE ACTIVE LEARNING STRATEGIES WILL HELP INCREASE STUDENT ENGAGEMENT AND PROMOTE COLLABORATION.
