WHILE THE 2020-2021 ACADEMIC YEAR BROUGHT IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING CHALLENGES, TO BE LIKE ME WAS ABLE TO ADAPT AND CONTINUE TO SPREAD OUR MESSAGE OF KINDNESS, EMPATHY, AND COMPASSION TO MANY STUDENTS IN DFW AND BEYOND. 1. ONLINE CURRICULUM: OUR DISABILITY AWARENESS ONLINE CURRICULUM WAS PROVIDED AT NO COST ON OUR WEBSITE, WWW.TOBELIKEME.ORG. DURING THE 2020-2021 ACADEMIC YEAR, THERE WERE 26,282 WEBSITE PAGE VIEWS, AND WE REACHED OVER 35,000 PEOPLE AND OVER 25 SCHOOL DISTRICTS NATIONWIDE. 2. VIRTUAL CLASSES: STUDENTS LEARNED ABOUT TEN DIFFERENT AREAS OF DISABILITY BY INTERACTING VIRTUALLY WITH OUR LEADERS WHO LIVE WITH THOSE DISABILITIES. OVER 1,500 STUDENTS FROM DFW AND BEYOND PARTICIPATED IN VIRTUAL CLASSES. 3. LEADER DEVELOPMENT: OUR LEADERS (LEADERS IN EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY FOR DISABILITIES - PEOPLE WHO LIVE WITH DISABILITIES), WERE PROVIDED WITH PAID EMPLOYMENT, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES, AND A PLATFORM FOR ADVOCACY. OUR LEADERS SPENT OVER 170 HOURS EDUCATING STUDENTS IN THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR. WE ARE PROUD TO CONTINUE OUR IMPORTANT WORK, EQUIPPING STUDENTS TO BE MORE KIND, EMPATHETIC, AND COMPASSIONATE. THESE STUDENTS ARE OUR FUTURE LAWMAKERS, BUSINESS OWNERS, TEACHERS, HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. TO BE LIKE ME IS CREATING A RIPPLE EFFECT OF KINDESS THAT WILL CHANGE THE FUTURE!
