WAS CONCEIVED, INCUBATED & LAUNCHED BY THE PONTIFICAL MISSION SOCIETIES (SEE SCH O)IN THE UNITED STATES, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH'S MISSIONARY SUPPORT MECHANISM, ESTABLISHED AS THE SOCIETY FOR THE PROPAGATION OF THE FAITH WITH A SPECIAL MANDATE TO BUILD UP THE PERSONNEL AND INFRASTRUCTURE IN MISSION DIOCESES, MOSTLY IN AFRICA AND ASIA. THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE LARGEST PROVIDER OF EDUCATION AND HEALTH CARE ACROSS AFRICA AND IS UNIQUELY POSITIONED TO FILL THE GROWING GAP BETWEEN AN EXPANDING POPULATION AND LOCAL SOLUTIONS. THE CHURCH ALSO OWNS VAST AMOUMTS OF ARABLE LAND, WHICH CAN DIRECTLY ADDRESS FOOD SECURITY, ADVANCE ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND FARMING PRACTICES AND PROVIDE JOBS WHILE GENERATING INCOME TO FUND THE VITAL SOCIAL PROGRAMS THAT SERVE THE POOREST OF THE POOR. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - DEVELOPING ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS FOR RELIGIOUS INVOLVED IN AGRICULTURAL PROGRAMS TO ALLOW THESE LEADERS TO BE LESS DEPENDENT ON DONATIONS AND TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THE NEEDS FOR THEIR CONSTITUENCIES.
CAPACITY BUILDING & TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE - PROVIDING TRAINING AND EXPERTISE THAT THEN TRANSFERS TO OTHERS IN THE RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY, PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR OVERALL DEVELOPMENT. WITH SUPPORT FROM DONATIONS AND OTHER SOURCES PROVIDE AGRICULTURAL EXPERTISE THAT WILL ENABLE SELECTED PROJECTS TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOAL OF SUPPORTING THEIR COMMUNITIES. BASED ON THE FUNDING PROVIDED FOR APPROVED AGRICULTURAL PROJECTS ALL EFFORTS ARE MADE TO ALLOW THE RECIPIENT TO BECOME MORE SELF-SUSTAINING, AND BETTER ABLE TO PROVIDE FOR THE NEEDS OF THE SCHOOLS, ORPHANAGES, SEMINARIES OR OTHER CHURCH FACILITY AND SURROUND COMMUNITIES.
