BAKHITA MOUNTAIN HOME ASSISTS WOMEN TRANSITIONING FROM HUMAN TRAFFICKING TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND SUCCESSFUL REINTEGRATION INTO SOCIETY. WOMEN EXPERIENCE HEALING THROUGH THREE COMPONENTS: SAFE HAVEN, TRAUMA INFORMED THERAPY, AND LIFE-ENHANCING SKILLS. BAKHITA IS A RENT-FREE RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY WHERE LOVE HEALS, RESTORES AND EMPOWERS WOMEN IMPACTED BY HUMAN TRAFFICKING. IT IS A TWO-YEAR RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM FOR WOMEN AGES 18 AND OLDER WHO HAVE BEEN TRAFFICKED FOR SEX OR LABOR. THE HOME PROVIDES SAFE AND SUFFICIENT SPACE FOR PRIVACY, COMMUNITY BUILDING, THERAPY EXERCISE, COOKING, DINING AND GARDENING. IT WILL ENABLE LEISURE ACTIVITIES, REFLECTION AND COMMUNING WITH NATURE. IT PROVIDES THE BASIC NEEDS FOR THE WOMEN, INCLUDING FOOD, CLOTHING, TRANSPORTATION AND ACCESS TO MEDICAL, DENTAL AND VISION CARE. DURING 2021, THE PROGRAM WAS STILL IN START-UP MODE AND HIRED ITS FIRST PROGRAM DIRECTOR. IN 2022, THE HOME WELCOMED ITS FIRST RESIDENTS.
