WE CALIBRATE: WE TRANSFORM AND ELEVATE THE LIVES OF TOMORROW'S LEADERS FROM UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES, PARTICULARLY THE DESCENDANTS OF AMERICAN SLAVERY, BY PROVIDING SPACES WHERE THEY EXPERIENCE THEIR BEST SELVES, FEEL VALUED FOR THE POTENTIAL THEY BRING TO THE WORLD, AND PREPARE TO REINVEST THEIR TIME AND TALENTS BACK INTO SOCIETY.

CALIBRATE PROVIDES A SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING AND MENTAL WELLNESS PROGRAM CALLED CONNECTIONS TO K-COLLEGE YOUTH LIVING IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. IN OUR FIRST 3 YEARS, 961 YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS HAVE RECEIVED SERVICES; WE CURRENTLY OPERATE ACROSS 10 LOCATIONS. CALIBRATE FOSTERS INTERGENERATIONAL IMPACT: 31 CONNECTIONS ALUMNI HAVE RETURNED TO VOLUNTEER, ASSUME LEADERSHIP ROLES WITHIN CALIBRATE, AND/OR RECEIVE TRAINING AND PAID OPPORTUNITIES TO FACILITATE CONNECTIONS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. WE BUILD ADDITIONAL WHOLE-CHILD AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING FOR OUR PARTNERS, E.G., "ART OF CONNECTIONS AND PARENT/FAMILY CONNECTIONS IN SPANISH.
LEARNING BY DESIGN K-5 CHARTER SCHOOL: 3-YEAR PARTNERSHIP; AS STUDENTS TRANSITIONED TO IN-PERSON DURING COVID PANDEMIC, WE 'RE-CALIBRATED' SCHOOL CULTURE, PROVIDED INTENSIVE SEL INTERVENTION AND TRAINED STAFF; 150 STUDENTS SERVED.
MINDS MATTER SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA: IMPLEMENTED CONNECTIONS PROGRAM, INCLUDING CURRICULUM, INFRASTRUCTURE, AND DATA COLLECTION. STUDENTS REPORTED DECREASED STRESS, FEELING NOT ALONE," INCREASED CONFIDENCE AND ABILITY TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES CONSTRUCTIVELY AND COURAGEOUSLY, GROWTH IN MORE THAN ONE SEL SKILL (CAPACITY TO BE EMPATHETIC, LISTEN, SELF-REFLECT, TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY), AND THAT SKILLS ARE GENERALIZED TO OTHER AREAS OF THEIR LIVES, LIKE SCHOOL AND HOME. PART OF A 3-YEAR PARTNERSHIP; 2 SITES AND 140 HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH SERVED; 9 ALUMNI HAVE TRAINED TO BECOME CONNECTIONS FACILITATORS.
PARTNERSHIP FOR SUCCESS (PFS): IMPLEMENTED CONNECTIONS PROGRAM, INCLUDING CURRICULUM, INFRASTRUCTURE, AND DATA COLLECTION. STUDENTS REPORTED A SENSE OF BELONGING, INCREASED CONNECTEDNESS TO PFS, BONDING WITH PEERS, THAT CONNECTIONS TAUGHT THEM TO "BECOME BETTER LISTENERS," REFLECT AND EXPAND THEIR THINKING, BUILT THEIR CONFIDENCE AND COMFORT TO "SPEAK IN FRONT OF PEOPLE." PART OF A 2-YEAR PARTNERSHIP; 3 SITES AND 260 YOUTH SERVED, GRADES 5-8; 1 ALUMNUS HAS TRAINED TO BECOME A CONNECTIONS FACILITATOR.
