HEALTH & WELLNESS - COPAL'S TWIN CITIES, SOUTHCENTRAL, AND SOUTHEASTERN MN HUBS CONNECT REGIONAL LATINE COMMUNITIES WITH THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS RESOURCES THEY NEED. COPAL HOSTS COMMUNITY VACCINATION EVENTS AND RESOURCE FAIRS, A NAVIGATORS HOTLINE OPEN 6 DAYS PER WEEK, HEALTH AND WELLNESS WORKSHOPS, AND A PROGRAM BUILDING THE SKILLS OF LOCAL COMMUNITY HEALTH LEADERS.
TO LEAD SOCIAL IMPACT INITIATIVES THAT IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR LATINE FAMILIES IN MINNESOTA, BY BUILDING COLLECTIVE POWER, TRANSFORMING SYSTEMS, AND CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR A DIGNIFIED LIFE. COPAL IS EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A TRANSFORMATIVE COMMUNITY SPACE, THE LATINO CENTER FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. THIS PROJECT REPRESENTS A PIVOTAL STEP IN EMPOWERING COMMUNITY, SERVING AS A VIBRANT HUB OF UNITY, CELEBRATION, AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE, EMBODYING THE TRANSNATIONAL SPIRIT OF OUR COMMUNITIES, AND HAS A $1.1M DEBT TO THE PROJECT SO FAR.
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE - COPAL'S ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE WORK ADDRESSES THE ROOT CAUSES OF FORCED MIGRATION DUE TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND EXTRACTIVE ECONOMIES. WE ENGAGE IN COALITIONAL STRATEGIES TO CREATE AN EQUITABLE TRANSITION TO CLEAN ENERGY AND TO KEEP MAJOR POLLUTERS ACCOUNTABLE TO THE MOST IMPACTED NEIGHBORHOODS. WE BUILD BRIDGES TO GREEN JOBS FOR OUR LATINE COMMUNITIES AND ENGAGE IN ACTIVITY-BASED ORGANIZING THROUGH MONTHLY OUTDOOR EVENTS.
