THE DISTRIBUTION OF FRESH PRODUCE, GROCERY ITEMS, BASIC HYGIENE ESSENTIALS, AND CLOTHING TO FOOD-INSECURE AND HOUSING-INSECURE AND/OR HOMELESS RESIDENTS OF THE GREATER LONG BEACH AREA. WE ALSO BUILD VEGETABLE GARDENS TO ENHANCE THE SELF-DETERMINTATION OF LOCAL FAMILIES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
HOMEBOUND PROGRAM: EACH WEEK THE ORGANIZATIONS DISTRIBUTES APPROXIMATELY 17,300 POUNDS OF GROCERIES AND FRESH PRODUCE TO MORE THAN 1,000 INDIVIDUALS, LOW INCOME FAMILIES, STUDENTS, SENIORS, VETERANS, AND HOMEBOUND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES OR MEDICAL CONDITIONS ON A FREE OR NOMINAL DONATION BASIS.
FOOD PANTRY: HOMELESS AND FOOD INSECURE HOUSEHOLDS CAN COME TO FOOD DISTRIBUTION WHAREHOUSE TO RECEIVE FRESH PRODUCE AND NUTRITIOUS FOODS OPERATED MULTIPLE DAYS A WEEK.
PARKS PROGRAM: EVERY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES A MOBILE FOOD PANTRY, BRINGING FRESH PRODUCE, NUTRITIOUS FOOD, HYGIENE ESSENTIALS, AND CLOTHING DIRECTLY TO THE HOMELESS AND OTHER IMPOVERISHED PEOPLE IN 8 TO 10 LOW-INCOME AREAS OF LONG BEACH.
