THE SPECIFIC CHARITABLE AND PUBLIC PURPOSES FOR WHICH THE CORPORATION IS ORGANIZED ARE TO (1) PROVIDE AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR VERY LOW, LOW AND MODERATE INCOME FAMILIES AND ELDERLY PERSONS IN ALL OF THE UNITED STATES, WHERE AN INADEQUATE SUPPLY OF HOUSING EXISTS FOR SUCH GROUPS, EXCEPT WYOMING, AND TO LESSEN THE BURDENS OF GOVERNMENT BY SUPPLYING AFFORDABLE, DECENT, SAFE AND SANITARY HOUSING AND RELATED SERVICES, WHERE AN INADEQUATE SUPPLY OF SUCH HOUSING EXISTS; (2) TO PROVIDE CHARITABLE ASSISTANCE TO PERSONS WHOSE INCOMES DO NOT EXCEED 80% OF THE AREA MEDIAN INCOME BY AREA AS DETERMINED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, WITH THE FOCUS ON PERSONS EARNING 60% OF AREA MEDIAN INCOME; AND (3) TO CARRY ON OTHER CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THESE PURPOSES AS ALLOWED BY LAW.
