(COMMUNITY ADDICTION RECOVERY EFFORT) IS A STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOLLOWED BY THE ROBBINSVILLE TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT WHEN FACED WITH SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN THE TOWNSHIP OF ROBBINSVILLE FOR THE POSSESSION OF, OR UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF, A CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE. ROBBINSVILLE C.A.R.E. ALLOWS POLICE OFFICERS TO OFFER A PATHWAY TO RECOVERY BY PROVIDING RESOURCES, ACCESS TO TREATMENT, AND GUIDANCE FROM A TRAINED DRUG COUNSELOR. ROBBINSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL FOLLOW A UNIFORM STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE AT THE TIME OF ARREST WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE LOCAL OPIATE TASK FORCE, WHICH CONSISTS OF, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO RECOVERY ADVOCATES OF AMERICA, CITY OF ANGELS AND INFOCUS URGENT CARE. ROBBINSVILLE POLICE WILL PROVIDE THE COUNSELOR AND THE PERSON STRUGGLING WITH ADDICTION WITH A SAFE, PRIVATE SETTING TO DISCUSS THE PROCESS OF GETTING THE HELP NEEDED TO BEGIN THE RECOVERY PROCESS. COORDINATE AN ACTION PLAN FOR AN OFFICER ON DUTY TO AID THOSE ARRESTED AND STRUGGLING WITH OPIATE ADDICTION BY PROVIDING RESOURCES AND ACCESS TO TREATMENT AT THE TIME OF ARREST. CONDITIONS OF THAT ACCESS INCLUDE NO CURRENT DETAINERS (I.E. ARREST WARRANTS) IN THEIR NAME. RECOGNIZE ADDICTION AS A DISEASE AND PROVIDE RESOURCES DURING THE SHORT WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY WHEN THE ADDICT IS AT HIS/HER MOST RECEPTIVE MOMENT. RECOGNIZE THE DISEASE OF ADDICTION AS A NATION-WIDE EPIDEMIC AND PROVIDE RESOURCES FOR A PATHWAY FOR RECOVERY.
