Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
FLATBUSH CATS FOCUSES ON CREATING SYSTEMIC SOLUTIONS THAT END THE CAT OVERPOPULATION CRISIS IN BROOKLYN - AND BEYOND - THROUGH OUR 4 PRIMARY PROGRAMS: TNR, FOSTER & ADOPTION, EDUCATION, AND OUR NON-PROFIT VETERINARY CLINIC. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR ADDITIONAL PROGRAM DETAILS.FLATBUSH CATS LAUNCHED BROOKLYN'S FIRST COMMUNITY CAT PROGRAM, DESIGNED TO PROVIDE VOLUNTEERS THE TRAINING, SUPPORT AND RESOURCES NEEDED TO STERILIZE THE CATS ON THEIR BLOCK. PRIOR TO THIS PROGRAM, LESS THAN 10% OF VOLUNTEERS RECEIVING TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN CERTIFICATION IN NYC SUCCESSFULLY STERILIZED EVEN ONE OUTDOOR CAT, DUE TO DIFFICULTIES SECURING THE EQUIPMENT, SPAY/NEUTER APPOINTMENTS, AND HANDS-ON GUIDANCE NEEDED TO CONDUCT A TNR PROJECT. IN 2021, FLATBUSH CATS TNR CERTIFIED AND TRAINED 504 TNR VOLUNTEERS, AND HELPED THEM STERILIZE 331 FERAL CATS TO END THE REPRODUCTION CYCLE THAT LEADS TO OVERCROWDED SHELTERS AND PREVENTABLE EUTHANASIA. ADDITIONALLY, WE MENTORED 57 NEWLY CERTIFIED TNR VOLUNTEERS (LONG-TERM TRAINING AND SUPPORT WITH ACTIVE TNR PROJECTS).
