FRIENDS OF INDIAN LAKE PENINSULA IS DEDICATED TO THE PRESERVATION, PROTECTION, AND STEWARDSHIP OF GREEN SPACE FOR ITS USE AS PASSIVE PARKS IN THE CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE, TN. IT WORKS TO PROTECT THE NATURAL AND HISTORICAL INTEGRITY OF THE AREA BY SUPPORTING PUBLIC ACCESS, MAINTAINING AND ENHANCING ITS FEATURES AND EXPANDIONG ITS LEGACY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THE FIRST GOAL OF OUR MISSION, WHICH IS TO BUY HALF OF THE 73 ACRES AND CONVINCE THE CITY TO PURCHASE THE OTHER HALF FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PASSIVE PARK. THE PURPOSE OF OUR ORGANIZATION AT THIS POINT IS TO PROVIDE FUNDING THROUGH GRANTS AND DONATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE LAND THAT WILL ALLOW THE COMMUNITY TO SAFELY ACCESS ALL 73 ACRES TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG AND OLD.

I. "CLEAN UP DAYS ON THE HILL" THESE WERE HELD ON THURSDAY & FRIDAY OCTOBER 14 & 15, 2021. FOFILP HOSTED HCA EMPLOYEES FOR THIS EVENT. WE HAD 14 VOLUNTEERS INCLUDING FOFILP BOARD DIRECTORS ON THURSDAY AND 11 VOLUNTEERS ON FRIDAY FROM 8AM TO NOON EACH OF THE TWO DAYS. WE PICKED UP QUITE A BIT OF TRASH ON THE HILL AND WE DEVELOPED THE HIKING TRAILS BY USING DOWNED TREES TO OUTLINE THE TRAILS FOR OUR VISITORS TO FOLLOW AND ENJOY THEIR TIME ON THE HILL. FOFILP BOARD DIRECTORS ALSO PARTICIPATED IN THE CLEAN UP AND OUTLINING OF TRAILS AS WELL. II. ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH, FOFILP HOSTED ITS 4TH ANNUAL COMMUNITY EVENT RENAMED AS "HIKING THE HILL" FOR THIS YEAR. WE HAD SEVERAL FOOD TRUCKS AND A 3 PIECE BAND PLAYING MUSIC DURING THE EVENT. WE ALSO HOSTED A CYCLOCROSS RACE ON THE BATEY FARM PARK ON THIS DATE AS WELL. THE WEATHER WAS BEAUTIFUL AND EVERYONE ENJOYED THEIR DAY
