WEEKEND POWER PACK PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM HELPS CHILDREN OF FOOD-INSECURE HOUSEHOLDS AND IS IN COOPERATION WITH THE SCHOOLS, CHILDREN AT RISK OF HUNGER ARE IDENTIFIED AND PROVIDED WITH WEEKLY "POWER PACKS" (BACKPACKS) FILLED WITH FOOD. DISTRIBUTED ON FRIDAYS, EACH BACKPACK CONTAINS ENOUGH FOOD TO PROVIDE FOR THE CHILD AND THEIR FAMILY DURING THE WEEKEND. IN 2021 THE PROGRAM SERVED 1,000 INDIVIDUALS ACCROSS 300 HOUSEHOLDS. IN ADDITION TO FOOD PURCHASED, THE VALUE OF DONATED GOODS TOTALED $14,488.75.
FOOD PANTRY DASH MEAL KITS PROGRAM: THE MOST ECONOMICALLY POOR ARE ALSO THE MOST NUTRITIONALLY POOR. TRADITIONAL FOOD BANKS DISTRIBUTE FOODS WITHOUT REGARD TO NUTRITIONAL STANDARDS, OUR MISSION IS TO DO BETTER. OUR VOLUNTEER STAFF PURCHASES AND DISTRIBUTES WHOLESOME FOODS THAT INCLUDE OUR SIGNATURE DASH COMPLETE MEAL KITS. THIS FOCUS ON NUTRITION ALONG WITH INFORMAL COACHING HELPS TO GUIDE OUR DISADVANTAGED NEIGHBORS TOWARDS MAKING HEALTHIER CHOICES THAT CAN LEAD TO OVERALL WELLNESS AND DISEASE PREVENTION. IN 2021 THE PROGRAM SERVED 4,081 INDIVIDUALS ACCROSS 1,292 HOUSEHOLDS. IN ADDITION TO ITEMS PURCHASED, THE VALUE OF DONATED GOODS TOTALED $40,094.12.
LOCALLY SOURCED FOOD PROGRAMS: INTRODUCES FOOD PANTRY USERS TO THE BENEFIT OF EATING LOCALLY RAISED AND HOME GROWN FOODS, CLIENTS ARE GIVEN TOKENS TO REDEEM AT THE OLD TOWN WARRENTON AND TWO LOCAL FARMERS MARKETS. 2021 THE PROGRAM SERVED 1,487 INDIVIDUALS ACROSS 214 HOUSEHOLDS.
