FRIENDS OF INDIAN LAKE PENINSULA IS DEDICATED TO THE PRESERVATION, PROTECTION, AND STEWARDSHIP OF GREEN SPACE FOR ITS USE AS PASSIVE PARKS IN THE CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE, TN. IT WORKS TO PROTECT THE NATURAL AND HISTORICAL INTEGRITY OF THE AREA BY SUPPORTING PUBLIC ACCESS, MAINTAINING AND ENHANCING ITS FEATURES AND EXPANDIONG ITS LEGACY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THE FIRST GOAL OF OUR MISSION, WHICH IS TO BUY HALF OF THE 73 ACRES AND CONVINCE THE CITY TO PURCHASE THE OTHER HALF FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PASSIVE PARK. THE PURPOSE OF OUR ORGANIZATION AT THIS POINT IS TO PROVIDE FUNDING THROUGH GRANTS AND DONATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE LAND THAT WILL ALLOW THE COMMUNITY TO SAFELY ACCESS ALL 73 ACRES TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG AND OLD.

A. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21 2022: OUR ANNUAL CLEAN UP THE "HILL" DAY WAS HELD FROM 9AM -NOON. VOLUNTEERS CONSISTED OF SIX OF OUR BOARD DIRECTORS AND ANOTHER 23 HCA EMPLOYEES DONATING THEIR TIME TO PICK UP THE TRASH & OTHER DEBRIS ON FOFILP'S HIKING TRAILS. LATER THAT DAY FOUR CYCLISTS CLEARED/ CLEANED UP THE MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS. B. SOME NEW MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS WERE BUILT AS WELL BY LOCAL CYCLISTS WHO RIDE THE BIKE TRAILS. THIS GROUP WAS MADE UP OF EIGHT AVID CYCLISTS. C. A CYCLOCROSS MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE SCHEDULED ON THE "HILL" ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON, OCTOBER 29TH WAS ENJOYED BY THE SPECTATORS AT THIS EVENT. HOWEVER, THE 5TH ANNUAL "HIKING THE HILL" EVENT SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29TH HAD TO BE CANCELLED DUE TO THE BAD WEATHER.
