SPECIFICALLY, NICWC'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE COMPLIANCE WITH AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INDIAN CHILD WELFARE ACT ("ICWA") FOR ALL INDIAN CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN NEBRASKA. IN SUPPORT OF THIS MISSION, NICWC WILL UNDERTAKE A SEVEN-PRONG APPROACH.

FIRST, NICWC WILL ANALYZE DATA AND CONDUCT RESEARCH TO IDENTIFY NEEDS AND GAPS IN RESOURCES FOR NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH IN NEBRASKA.
SECOND, NICWC WILL WORK WITH TRIBES AND OTHER ENTITIES TO ESTABLISH AND REINFORCE CULTURAL IDENTITY FOR NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH.
THIRD, THROUGH IN-PERSON SESSIONS, ONLINE RESOURCES AND MAJOR COMMUNITY EVENTS, NICWC WILL DEVELOP AND DELIVER EDUCATIONAL CONCEPTS TO INCREASE UNDERSTANDING OF TRIBAL CULTURE, ICWA LEGAL PROVISIONS AND LICENSURE.
