THE BOULDER OUTDOOR SURVIVAL SCHOOL (BOSS) IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT TEACHES OUTDOOR SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES AND RESPECT FOR THE NATURAL HABITAT. MOST CLASSES TAKE PLACE EITHER IN RURAL UTAH OR COLORADO. THE SCHOOL SERVES APPROXIMATELY 120-150 STUDENTS PER YEAR IN HIGHLY INTENSIVE MUTLI-WEEK TRAINING COURSES. BOSS TEACHES STUDENTS ESSENTIAL SURVIVAL SKILLS SUCH AS NAVIGATION, FIRE BY FRICTION, SHELTER BUILDING, TRAPPING SURVIVAL PROIORITIES, CLOTHING, WATER PROCUREMENT AND TREATMENT, AND FOOD GATHERING (PLANTS, TRAPPING, FISHING). THE ORGANIZATION TEACHES SEVERAL DIFFERENT TYPES OF COURSES: 1) THE FIELD COURSE, 2) THE SKILLS COURSE, 3) THE HUNTER/GATHERER COURSE, 4) DESERT NAVIGATOR COURSE AND 5) WILDERNESS FIRST RESPONDER COURSE.
