I AM VOICES BLOOMING FLOWER HOUSING PROGRAM PROVIDES INNOVATIVE, HANDS-ON HELP WITH HOUSING, LIFE SKILLS, JOB PLACEMENT, TRANSPORTATION, SOCIAL SKILLS, FINANCIAL LITERACY, THERAPY ASSISTANCE, SAFETY AND SUPPORT TO WOMEN WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SEXUAL ASSAULT AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND BOUTS OF HOMELESSNESS. I AM VOICES PROVIDES SUPPORT TO WOMEN FOR TWO YEARS,
*A FULL MENU OF SUPPORT SERVICES WERE PROVDED 7 DAYS A WEEK. *TWO PARTICIPANTS OBTAINED HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMAS *THREE RECEIVED GEDS *ALL WOMEN GAINED EMPLOYMENT * MORE THAN 10 OF THE GRADUATES BECAME VOLUNTEERS ADVOCATES OR STAFF MEMBERS. * FIVE COLLABORATORS: SEACOAST CHURCH TRIDENT TECHNICAL COLLEGE SC WORKS LOWCOUNTRY FOOD BANK HELPING HANDS OF GOOSE CREEK.
BLOSSOM SUPPORTIVE SERVICES PROGRAM: WITH THE HELP OF COMMUNITY PARTNERS THE PROGRAM PROVIDES ACCESS TO: MEDICAL HOUSING FINANCIAL AID EDUCATION HOUSING COUNSELING EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION AND REFERRALS ADVOCACY INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP THERAPY AS NEEDED GROUP COMMUNITY SUPPORT ACTIVITIES JOB PLACEMENT REFERRALS AND SERVICES CASE MANAGEMENT STAFF WORK DIRECTLY WITH SURVIVORS TO HELP THEM FIND COMMUNITY RESOURCES MEDICAL SERVICES AND COURT SUPPORT. THE SERVICES ARE ALWAYS CONFIDENTIAL AND ARE PROVIDED AT NO COST TO THE WOMEN THAT ARE SERVED. A MINIMUM OF 10-16 WOMEN ARE SERVED DAILY. VOLUNTEERS DISTRIBUTED 300 HYGIENE SUPPLY KITS TO THE COMMUNITY; CONSIST OF CLEANING SUPPLIES HYGIENE FEMININE PRODUCTS AND CLOTHING UNDERGARMENTS TO SHELTERS HOMELESS CAMPS SCHOOLS CHURCHES ETC.
THE BLOOMING BUDS COMMUNITY GARDEN IS A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT WITH BOONE HALL PLANTATION AND FOXBANK PLANTATION HOUSING COMMUNITY AND PROVIDES AN AESTHETIC APPEARANCE AND A THERAPEUTIC FUNCTION FOR THE PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS. PROGRAM IS LEAD BY A SURVIVOR HOUSING PROGRAM GRADUATE TURNED VOLUNTEER. MAINTENANCE IS PERFORMED BY THE PARTICIPANTS AND VOLUNTEERS AND AFFORDS THEM SOCIAL CONNECTIONS AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES IN AN OUTDOOR AREA WHERE THEY ARE EXPOSED TO THE SUN FOR VITAMIN D BOOST. THERE ARE 8 RAISED BEDS AND 2 FLAT GARDENS OF ORGANIC VEGETABLES AND FRUIT AND A SEASONAL ARRAY OF FLOWERS. MUGS POTS AND ITEMS CAN BE PURCHASED AND THE HARVESTED ITEMS ARE USED TO SUPPORT THE FOOD CONSUMPTION AT THE HOUSE. THIRTY FAMILIES WERE PROVIDED FRUITS VEGETABLES HOLIDAY FLOWER BOUQUET AND HERBS AT NO COST. A CURRICULUM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED TO EDUCATE THE YOUTH ON GARDENING AND HOW TO ALIGN THIS WITH SELF-CARE HEALTHY EATING AND NUTRITION EDUCATION FOR HEALTHY BODIES; SICKNESS AND ILLNESS PREVENTION.
