WEST VIRGINIA BREAST HEALTH INITIATIVE AIMS TO RAISE AWARENESS AND FUND BREAST CANCER PROGRAMS WITH AN EMPHASIS ON INCREASING BREAST HEALTH EDUCATION, FINANCIALLY ASSISTING BREAST CANCER SCREENINGS, FACILITATING PATIENT NAVIGATION, AND PROVIDING SURVIVOR SERVICES. THROUGH FUNDRAISING EFFORTS ACROSS THE STATE, 100% OF THE PROCEEDS REMAIN IN WEST VIRGINIA TO ASSIST UNINSURED AND UNDER-INSURED WEST VIRGINIANS.

PROVIDED SUPPORT FOR EARLY DETECTION BREAST CANCER SCREENING TESTS (CLINICAL BREAST EXAMS AND MAMMOGRAMS). PROVIDED FINANCIAL BASED NEEDS ASSISTANCE TO THOSE SUFFERING FROM BREAST CANCER. PROVIDED COMMUNITY OUTREACH EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES IN AN EFFORT TO EDUCATE ON TOPICS SUCH AS BREAST CANCER DETECTION AND BREAST HEALTH. PROVIDED IMMEDIATE SUPPORT AND EDUCATION TO THOSE RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER.
HIGHMARK OUTREACH PROGRAM- STATEWIDE PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN TITLED "HERE'S THE MEMO, GET YOUR MAMMO." THE PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS THE IMPORTANCE OF BREAST HEALTH SCREENINGS THROUGH ATTENTION-GRABBING BROADCASTS ACROSS RADIO, TV, BILLBOARDS AND MORE. VARIOUS IN-PERSON EVENTS WERE HELD THROUGHOUT THE STATE TO SIGN UP INDIVIDUALS FOR FREE MAMMOGRAMS, DISTRIBUTION OF BREAST HEALTH EDUCATION PAMPHLETS AND TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE RESOURCES PROVIDED BY WVBHI AND VARIOUS OTHER STATE PROGRAMS.
