OUR MISSION IS TO DEVELOP AND ADVANCE THE SELF-RELIANCE OF ORANGE MOUND AND THE LARGER COMMUNITY BY BUILDING CAPACITY AND ENGAGEMENT AMONG CITIZENS AND BUSINESSES.

THE CAREAVAN PROGRAM IS A COVID-19 RESPONSIVE ACTION TO GET NECESSARY RESOURCES TO CURRENT RESIDENTS OF HISTORIC ORANGE MOUND. VOLUNTEERS WERE MOBILIZED AND ASSIGNED TO DELIVER CARE PACKAGES TO RESIDENTS THAT EXPRESSED INTEREST IN RECEIVING A CARE PACKAGE. OVER 600 CARE PACKAGES WERE DELIVERED DURING FISCAL YEAR 2020.
MOW THE MOUND IS A JOM FUNDED PROJECT TO BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY. ORANGE MOUND STREET ASSEMBLY (OMSA) LEADERS TARGETED OVERGROWN AND BLIGHTED PROPERTIES FOR REMEDIATION. JOM SELECTED LOCAL SERVICE PROVIDERS TO REMEDIATE THE LIST OF IDENTIFIED DISTRESSED PROPERTIES. ACROSS ALL 7 ZONES, OVER 70 LOTS WERE REMEDIATED WITH THIS PROGRAM. 100% OF VENDORS WERE BLACK-OWNED AND OVER 80% WERE NATIVE ORANGE MOUND SERVICE PROVIDERS.
MONTHLY COMMUNITY MEETINGS ARE HELD EVERY 3RD MONDAY. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, MEETINGS ARE HELD VIRTUALLY VIA ZOOM. CANVASSERS WERE HIRED TO HELP PROMOTE A TEXT PLATFORM TO ENCOURAGE CURRENT RESIDENTS TO ATTEND MONTHLY MEETINGS. GUEST SPEAKERS ARE INVITED AND ZONE UPDATES CONTINUE TO BE SHARED DURING THESE ROUTINE GATHERINGS.
OUR ORGANIZATION HOST A MYRIAD OF EVENTS AND PROGRAMMING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER ORGANIZATION. FOR THESE EVENTS, OUR ORGANIZATION COVERS THE COSTS OF FOOD, TRANSPORTATION, AND ANY VENUE COSTS. ALL EVENTS OCCUR WITHIN THE BOUNDARY OF HISTORIC ORANGE MOUND.
