CRIME FIGHTING TOOLS TO CONTRIBUTE TO PUBLIC SAFETY. THE GOAL OF THE K-9 UNIT IS TO PROTECT THE CITIZENS OF TULARE COUNTY, APPREHEND SUSPECTS AND ADD TO THE SAFETY OF THE DEPUTIES. THE TRAINED SHERRIF'S CANINE PERFORMS A VITAL AND NECESSARY SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY. SERVICES INCLUDE:* APPREHENSION OF CIMINAL OFFENDERS*LOCATE MISSING PERSONS*SEARCHES OF BUILDING AND PROPERTY*PROVIDE CROWD CONTROL*PROVIDE PUBLIC AWARENESS DEMONSTRATIONS. MEET YOUR DEPUTY EVENT IS DESIGNED TO STRENGTHEN OUR UNINCORPORATED COMMUNITIES BY ENCOURAGING NEIGHBORHOODS TO ENGAGE IN STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS WITH EACH OTHER AND WITH THEIR LOCAL LAW ENFORECEMENT PARTNERS. THIS APPROACH PROMOTES COMMUNITY, GOVERNMENT AND POLICE PARTNERSHIPS; PROACTIVE PROBLEM SOLVING; AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TO ADDRESS THE CAUSES OF CRIME, FEAR OF CRIME AND OTHER COMMUNITY QUALITY OF LIFE ISSUES. COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS ARE JOINT EFFORTS BETWEEN LAW ENFOREMENT AGENCIES AND THEIR COMMUNITIES TO ADDRESS THE SIGNIFICANT CRIME AND QUALIFTY OF LIFE ISSUES. THE FREE EVENT INCLUDED BOUNCE HOUSES, OBSTACLE COURSES, SNOW CONES AND POPCORN, RAFFLE PRIZES AND AN UP-CLOSE LOOK AT THE TCSO SWAT BEARCAT, DRONES AND MUCH MORE! THE EXPLORER PROGRAM IS A WORKSITE-BASED PROGRAM THAT IS A BRANCH OF THE BOY SOUTS OF AMERICA. THE EXPLORER PROGRAM IS A STRUCTED HANDS-ON PROGRAM WHICH GIVES YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE 14 THROUGH 20 YEARS OLD THE ACADEMIC AND TECHNICAL TRAINING NEEDED TO BECOME FUTURE LAW ENFORMENT OFFICERS. THE PROGRAM ALSO GIVES EXPLORERS THE LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND SELF-DICIPLINE TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL COMMUNITY LEADERS. SOME TYPICAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDE UNIFORMED PATROL RIDE-ALONGS TO OBSERVE OFFICERS AT WORK, CLASSES ON LAW ENFOREMENT TOPICS, AND INTERACTING WITH PUBLIC DURING STREET FAIRS, PARADES, OR OTHER CIVIC EVENTS. THE EXPLORER PROGRAM EMPOWERS YOUNG PEOPLE OF TULARE COUNTY TO POSSIBLY HAVE A REWARDING CAREER IN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND / OR UTILIZE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND DEVELOP INTO FUTURE LEADERS IN TULARE.
