Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE PRIMARY FOCUS FOR THE UNITED COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (UCF) IS TO ALIGN WITH THE MISSION OF THE UNITED WAY OF THE MID-WILLAMETTE VALLEY (UWMWV) - UNITING PEOPLE AND RESOURCES TO BUILD A THRIVING, RESILIENT COMMUNITY. THE UCF PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE CORPORATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS IN GIVING AND SUPPORTING LOCAL CAUSES, INITIATIVES, AND THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS. THE SALEM-KEIZER SCHOOL FUND (SKSF) IS MANAGED BY THE UNITED COMMUNITY FOUNDATION. THE SKSFS PURPOSE IS TO SUPPORT THE MISSION AND WORK OF THE SALEM-KEIZER SCHOOL DISTRICT, WHILE ALSO PROVIDING AN AVENUE FOR THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY TO HELP GIVE TO AND FOSTER THE SUCCESS OF ITS STUDENTS. THE FUND WORKS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT MAY NOT BE COVERED BY THE DISTRICT'S GENERAL BUDGET. IN 2023, UCF SECURED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE SALEM-KEIZER SCHOOL DISTRICT THAT OUTLINED THE PARAMETERS OF THE FUND UCF WOULD BE MANAGING FOR THEM. UCF WAS ALSO ABLE TO SECURE A PRIVATE DONATION THAT ALLOWED FOR A PART-TIME STAFF TO BEGIN WORK ON STRENGTHENING UCF'S RELATIONSHIP WITH SKSD AND SETTING UP THE INFRASTRUCTURE NEEDED TO ADMINISTER THOSE FUNDS.
